Hints and Tricks

The Alchemist is a very versatile class with many unique skills and abilities that may be used in many different ways.  What are some of the creative ways that you make practical use of the Alchemists' skill set?  Do you have any hints, tricks or strategies to make better use of the skills that we as Alchemists were given?  If so...  Share them here.

  • While travelling on a Ferry one may pass through the ether to any one of the alchemical anchors across Sapience, thus saving time during return trips and getting to where you are travelling to faster.   As long as you have bought passage home already, Ether Channel is the fastest way back to the mainland.
  •      The Homunculus can be used in many ways and is often underutilized.
Just leave your Homunculus in a socially active room and you don't have to worry about missing any of the conversation.  While still being free to carry on with your other projects you can position your helper in any room, allowing you to communicate as if you were in the room.  The Homunculus allows you to never miss what is being said and allows you to speak, as if you were in the room that you've stationed your loyal helper and his ears.
Place it as a spy, and listen to enemy conversation.  City Gates are often good locations for over hearing foreign secrets and will often disrupt communications there.
Waiting for your favorite hunting location to re-populate?  Be the first to know, by placing your homunculus in the area and every so often take a look to see if the Mobs have returned.  Be the first to know when the herd of buffalo is in Northreach again or when the red and yellow scorpions have returned to the desert caves.  Just use your homunculus' eyes to see what you need to see without wasting the time travelling there yourself.
  • Stuck in a room and can't escape?

If you need to get out of a room but are being stopped from doing so, you can use a Concussive formula to blast yourself free.  As long as you are not weighed down by Mass you can use the formula to propel yourself safely into an adjacent room and out of danger.
  • Locate and Go

    1. Using ether seek you are able to see the name of the room in which the one you are seeking is located.
    2. room find roomname - - will get the room ID
    3. goto roomID - - to then walk to the room in which the person you are seeking was last seen

That sounds more like a Mudlet Mapper thing that a lot of classes, just not alchemist, can use.
You know, that one thing at that one place, with that one person.

    Yea, that one!

Indeed you are right sir...  as long as you know the name of the room.  Which is where EtherSeek comes in...  although Thirdeye works too!

Relatively simple to trigger / script it so the area and room number appear next to the room name, with the number being clickable.

Tharos, the Announcer of Delos shouts, "It's near the end of the egghunt and I still haven't figured out how to pronounce Clean-dat-hoo."

I think that is something built into Mudlet Mapper already for most abilities (no idea about other mapping tools, though)

  • Did everyone know that your cities Alchemist can teach anything to any skill level?  Mini-Skills and Tradeskills?

    So can Tyrandiel and Onorol.
    Huh. Neat.
  • Probably common stuff here but whatever. It takes no balance/equilibrium to amalgamate, enhance, or dilute any formulation. Only to imbibe or throw. So you don't necessarily need to set up formulations ahead of time so long as you have the phials and the minerals needed.

Probably not recommended for melee combat if you toss phials around.

Tyrandiel and Onorol won't teach to transcendent. Neither do the city tutors for class skills. The Alchemist tutors in the labs teach everything to trans though.
