First impression: Can't combination with a Scimitar, so now I need a Broadsword.  Yay, the one contingency I didn't think of!

That's all.

Why doesn't it work with scimitar? Straight edged weapons only?

  • Because it's not supposed to. Longsword and broadsword for SnB.

Here's the breakdown of weapons for each spec (speed option then damage option):
    Dual cutting: Scimitar and battleaxe.
    Dual blunt: Morningstar and flail.
Sword and shield: Longsword and broadsword.
Two handed: Warhammer and bastard sword.
  • 18:18:15.094 Sword: rend limb: venom: shield: smash.

18:18:15.094 You carve into Ivis's flesh with a vicious strike, opening a bleeding wound.

18:18:15.094 You brutally smash your shield into Ivis.

18:18:15.094 You batter at your enemy's defences, seeking an opening.

    18:18:15.094 4737h 3667m -dbe-

18:18:18.781 You have lost all of your gained ferocity.

    18:18:18.781 4737h 3667m -dbe-

    18:18:19.362

18:18:19.362 You have recovered balance on all limbs.

Ivis says in a hoarse, rasping voice, "746."
    A few things:

That's a max damage combo which requires over 4 seconds of balance.  No mod on the smash.  And I lose the ferocity of the attack before regaining balance.

    What's the point?

  • Seems by far the most financially appealing choice.  I hope it's also a truly viable one.

It also allows for use of SoA, making it in all likelihood the best for bashing, since damage mitigation doesn't appear to have been a factor at all in "balancing" class bashing DPS - however, we'll have to wait and see what @Sena and her minions have to say on the subject.

  • Makarios said rend is meant for faster limb setup and burst damage, not intended for momentum.

  • The Rageblade works as a longsword.

  • prrrrrrrobably going to have to look into that, lol.
  • The Rageblade is a longsword, if I recall correctly, so that's probably why it works.
  • For Sena and rest:

    Comb: SLICE SMASH

    15 str: Longswrd: 620 DMG : 2.34 SPD

    Comb: REND SMASH

  • Hi, can anyone tell me what the benefit of keeping up ferocity is? Does it make my attacks faster/stronger/more accurate/something else?
    image
  • It allows you to spend it on a shield strike which is essentially a third attack on a combo. This is needed for finishers where you will use it to trip for example, getting your shield attack up for stunning. Using the ability burns all your ferocity.

Apart from that, I believe it is needed for the ability that let's you hit when you have paralysis.

  • Ferocity seems to be purely for Strike:

    Strike (Weaponmastery)                        Known: Yes
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Syntax:            SHIELDSTRIKE <target> <HIGH|MID|LOW>
    Details:
Once you have generated sufficient ferocity, you may unleash a
devastating blow with your shield. This attack does not consume balance
and may be followed with a standard combination attack.

When targeted high, the strike will stun your opponent.

When targeted to the midsection, the strike will deliver sensitivity.

When striking low, you will knock your opponent to the ground.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Looks like Dedication (allowing you to attack through paralysis at the cost of health) comes before Ferocity in the ability listing, so probably doesn't require that you have it.

  • Does Ferocity work off of a system like kai and shin? If so, would it work better if your current ferocity level showed up on your prompt?
  • *k will function as a custom prompt token for ferocity/etc. Forgot about that in the changelog.
  • Shield strike can also be used after your combo, not just before. Not sure if this is intended but if it is, should probably make that clearer in the AB file

  • Oh hello unintended parry bypass

Somewhat unrelated to S&B specifically BUT:

12:33:30.478 You rub some curare on a longsword.

12:33:30.478 You slice into Aelios with a longsword.

12:33:30.478 Horror overcomes Aelios's face as his body stiffens into paralysis.

12:33:32.760 You must regain balance first.

    12:33:32.835

12:33:32.835 You have recovered balance on all limbs.

12:33:32.835 You rub some curare on a longsword.

12:33:32.835 You slice into Aelios with a longsword.

12:33:32.835 A slight tremor rises up your runeblade to your arm. [Eihwaz]

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

E: However, it would seem Guardbreak doesn't actually increase your Ferocity more than Slice.  Is that a bug?

You can shieldstrike whenever so long as you have ferocity

You can shieldstrike whenever so long as you have 4 ferocity.  Since the max you can have is 4 and it often drops a point before I can Disembowel, I'm having trouble Shieldstriking Mid for sensitivity right before a Disembowel.

If I could recommend one change, increase the max ferocity to 5.

It looks like smash high is giving afflictions in a specific order every time, and not random as I originally thought.

Dizziness, heroism, stupidity, confusion, epilepsy in that order, and nothing happens after if they have not cured any of those.
    image
  • It also appears to take the victim off focus balance for a bit less than 3 seconds.  Combo slice smash high beats this balance, but it does not reset or add to the focus upset, so they regain focus balance right after the second combo.

Just to update this, you cannot shieldstrike with an impaled opponent.

So you can't shieldstrike mid/disembowel to stick sensitivity right before the disembowel.

Back to the damn drawing board.

Are Lagua, Lagul, Laguz working as intended for SnB? It doesn't seem like it. I know that Nausea isn't working as intended (last I checked). Assuming all those things get worked out in some way or form, SnB looks to be more than powerful enough for single combat. The Shield stun nerf compared to the test server is a bit saddening to see go since it was so OP haha.

  • +dsb one is working. On Jhui it was ~9.9% increase on dsb damage. (6397 vs 5816)
  • Limb damage rune seemed to be working, too.

Does snb have the ability to hit with two venoms at once? and if so what's the speed on it (fastest speed out of the two weapons assuming longsword)

Yes and no.  Yes because the afflictions given by SMASH and DRIVE imitate venoms and you can still envenom a sword, so you can do common things like Curare/Prefarar, Curare/Aconite, etc.  The balance isn't terrible (I think it's about 2.5 with a Longsword?).  But no because it's a rather limited list of afflictions (can't do double delph or double epteth, for example).

Well basically I was trying to do the math of how hard it would be to get a venom stack up to use damnation in the normal sense. 2.5 is horrible though for using afflictions honestly.

Hard enough to keep up with passive curing and active curing but only being .5 seconds slower of two herb eats.. if you get hindered your losing much more than .5 seconds.. add in tree and passive curing.. are affliction stacks even possible as snb?

You have access to blackout, stun, and SMASH HIGH (puts them off focus balance) so yes.
