Minipets

Madelyne arrives from the southwest.
She is followed by a black Dardanic stallion, a dusky grey Dardanic mare, a dappled Dardanic filly,
a mahogany swallow, a roiling fire sprite, a squirrel monkey, a dainty ice sprite, a blue roan, an
energetic little chipmunk, a rambunctious ferret, a frisky goat kid, an alabaster pegasus, a young
two-toed sloth, a miniature snowy owl, a powerful black destrier, a Kamleikan snow kitten, a spindly
giraffe calf, a clouded leopard cub, a sure-footed garron, an Inbhir terrier puppy, a Baarian tiger
cub, a tiny piglet, a red-handed tamarin, an ivory peryton, a skittish meerkat, a black squirrel, a
giant tortoise, a sooty Dardanic colt, a Sangrean sheepdog puppy, a black tarantula, an inquisitive
bear cub, a crystal spiderling, a crested penguin, Peabody, the pink flamingo, a roseate-maned pony,
a plump, tangerine-winged quail, a grey cockatiel, a brightly coloured hermit crab, a swift ghost
bat, a woolly lamb, a Cyrenian elk, a dark chestnut jousting stallion, a majestic stag, a llama cria,
a silvered reindeer, a playful budgie, a Dun Valley wildcat kitten, a star-nosed mole pup, a
crimson paradise bird, a dingo pup, a pygmy jarbo, an elegant Mysian parrot, a yellow-bellied marmot,
 a small armadillo, a forest bat, a pileated gibbon, a dirangi cub, a delicate storm-grey mare, a
spirited cremello stallion, a reticulated giraffe, a brilliant rainbow skink, a squat humgii, a
golden gryphon, a Thalassan kitten, a dainty gazelle, a white coyote pup, a zebra finch, a brown,
floppy-eared bunny, a desert fox kit, a regal golden charger, a curious pangolin, and a tough-
looking hellcat.

Can we limit this to two ents following, unless they are class based ents? Or five? Hell, even 10?

This is ridiculous. For those of us that play on shaky internet connections, this is a D/C just waiting to happen.

@Jhui spams enough during his combat/queue'ing but could anyone imagine if he walked around with one of these?

These minipets are completely out of control, and really really really need to be brought into line. The ability to walk around with infinite number of followers just makes for a bad experience when the person decides to use them.

Nothing against @Madelyne here either, she is a lovely person. I'm sure the minipets are a fun thing for her to have. Collections are all well and good but when they become something that can truly cause other people issues, something has to be done.

  • I believe the official measurement for that many pets is "a metric shit ton"
  • Better idea: mini-minipets. Pets for your pets. Like your reindeer can have a little pet snow hare, or your dog can have a pet mouse that rides on his head. And each minipet gets its own entourage.
Someone's played Neopets... im onto you. (I think Neopets are at petpetpets last time I checked)
  • I reject your malicious and defamatory allegation that I even know what that game is.

  • I concur with this idea. Or at least have a substitution line of "Is followed by a mass flock of an assortment of creatures" anything to limit the spam"

    nope

Artemis says, "You are so high maintenance, Tharvis, gosh."
Tecton says, "It's still your fault, Tharvis."

Maybe just allow an ability in Vision to Unfocus Ents or a Config option to hide this.

I'm against nerfing a parade she's spent years organizing absent some actual harm.
  • The harm is the lag it causes people she walks by.

But how significant is it really? She's one Cyrenian non-combatant with a pet parade. Could we measure the effect?
  • Snowball effect. If it was @Ashtan and everyone had this it could be bad. The idea is to be proactive not reactive to the situation.

Appreciating that even speculative harm wants addressing, I think reasonable minds can differ on whether @Madelyne-inspired DoS combat strategies are about to go viral.

It's a rather obnoxious amount of mini pets to have, not to mention have following you around all the time.

She doesn't have them follow her all the time. It's rare to see her full menagerie, in my experience, and I've spent a decent amount of time with her over the past few IC years.

The dating scene must be a nightmare with such an entourage, whether they're following you or not. "So this is my house. Don't mind the pet hair and droppings literally everywhere. Here, put these booties on. I'm obligated to inquire: Are you allergic to cats, rats, bat, dogs, duck, geese, monkeys, fowls, and so on and so forth?"

In my defense, the ONLY time I have them following Madelyne is during a foozle. And even then I usually have her leave them somewhere between racing her geographically-challenged self back and forth across the continent, in which most cases she's either lost or clueless, and often both. :p The rest of the time they're either stabled or on a ship for safety, both their own and the aeonic adventures who they might (literally) knock out of their way in passing.
