    So haven't updated you guys in awhile here on the goings on of the crowdmap as I have been fairly busy with work and such. We know the script is having issues with the size of the map and causing some lag with pretty much everyone who uses it for certain things. We apologize for this and are trying to resolve the problem but things like this take time. I have updated massively on wormholes now and at last count there are 810 wormhole special exits that should all be accurate to my knowledge so far. Secondsight has helped greatly with that in checking them and I had walked around quite extensively to add and delete the wormholes on the map that were good or bad but of course if you run across any that do not work or ones that need to be added message me in game with the room numbers or even post it here on the forums. Also the wilderness portion of the map which has not been getting uploaded as part of the crowdmap as it was causing so many people to crash that it became detrimental to upload and update with has been coming along slowly. We are currently at approximately 70,000 wilderness rooms and no that number is not being exaggerated at all. I'm not even halfway done yet I think so it will continue to be mapped and we will use that map to hopefully find the issues with the script to keep people from lagging when using it or even crashing their mudlet.     If anyone is actually having performance problems with the crowdmap, please report them on Mudlet forums. I haven't heard anyone's pathfinding being slow with the current crowdmap in a while and assume everything is fine then.

    only issue i've had lately is when doubleclicking Crossroads for example, it keeps giving me the error that it can't find a route with known exits, even when I'm one south of it

    That seemed to get fixed in the last map.

    It takes about one to two seconds on mine. It takes about 5-6 on my wife's PC (Which is odd! don't think that's Mudlet causing it - her PC is faster than mine in every way).

    Please post that on Mudlet forums - include the map you're using (you can save it via settings) and the time it takes - latest IRE mapper script has a "getpath from # to #" alias which'll measure time for you.

    Whenever I "look" in Crossroads or move from an adjacent room into crossroads there is a 2.5 second or so system lag. I don't get any system lag from anything else. Could this be a mapper problem?

    My mapper has crashed mudlet 3 times now. As soon as I goto room BANG. It is pretty rare but I also experience a 2-10s lag when using goto (not sure if that's common).

    Do AREALOCK and look for the blank area at the top and click Lock!
    Achieved dragon on the 13th of Aeguary, 634 - aged 21 and 1 month and 21 days.

    Have you ever considered offloading the getPath routine into a coroutine? Seems ideal to help ameliorate the hanging issues people are having.

    EDIT: Fiddled around with this and you'd need to either completely rewrite the way pathing is handled or update mudlet's lua engine to use LuaJIT + coco extension. Nevermind!

    coroutines are not asyncronous.

    I know this is a stupid question, but I simply cannot find the answer, or at least have not yet been able to. How do you stop using the "goto ___" feature? I have twice walked into my own death now from not being able to alter my route once having started it. To be fair I likely would have died anyway, but it certainly would help to know how to do this in the future.

    mpp also works, it's just a pause though, so you can do mpp to resume walking the same path.

    Update your mapper script to 14.1.1, do 'mdebug on', and copy/paste what it says for alertness when you think it is being slow - it'll say something like '(mapper): alertness trigger for person took 0s.'

    (mapper): a new getPath() from 20925 to 4727 took 1.531s. There are 78 rooms to visit in it.

    Can someone please edit the mapper so that it uses the new change to gallop/dashing/etc in which you can specify the number of rooms you want to dash through?

    So that was odd just now. Until I updated mudlet mapper just a few minutes ago (which did not pop up when I was logged in already for a solid 30 minutes), I lost my connection to Achaea. Restarted Mudlet, same problem. Eventually I was able to reconnect and the message to update the mapper came up. Since then, it's been fine.

    Any guesses as to why this happened? @Dragonknight had the exact same thing happen.

    I'm guessing this to be a mapper issue, but right now, if I use my simple alias, angel seek lags hard (almost six seconds) when I find anybody. If I use svo's "seek" to seek and report, the lag is 11 seconds.

    It hurts us so very much. :(

    A question: Is it possible to turn off the crowdmap function that makes it update on every alertness tic?  It makes it lag hard when moving around, and it's in general more trouble than it's worth with it on.

    It shouldn't lag - I've worked on making it be super-fast a bunch too. If you're still having problems, get in touch with me, I'd like to fix it. Otherwise, you can disable the trigger responsible for it.

    If anyone is having the mapper freeze up while walking - try deleting the map as described here

    Do AREALOCK and look for the blank area at the top and click Lock!
    This actually fixed my lag issue when creating a path.

    Strange I am sure I locked that area before, but it was unlocked now. Does it reset at map updates?

    Anyway, before locking it (just now), I crashed mudlet with a click on a room number I found with "rf" with a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library error:
