    @sobriquet yeah...that was the annoying part for me. Having no vials of health. No armor. No clothes. What's worse is if you have no gold. Then it gets exciting. Asking others to buy stuff for you is normally out of the question unless your character happens to have someone he knows well. Well, I suppose you could ask someone random in mhaldor. But I think that would have varying results.

    You shouldn't need health vials, weapons or armour to kill rats. Get enough for a weapon (if you need one) and a health vial then go hunt things that don't afflict to save gold for the rest.

    Sure it sucks, but there's never a point where you can't make gold to buy those things or where you have to borrow some.

    There are also plenty of quests that don't require killing (and thus don't need weapons or vials) and quickly give enough gold for basic supplies.

    Or you might be able to sell some riftable (or otherwise non-decay) things that you have a good supply of and don't immediately need.

    I used to come back to decayed armour, clothes, weapons, vials... always had enough gold for replacements. There's plenty of small gold quests around most of the cities to get somewhere.

    To be honest though, after having my vials decay for the nth time, I did sort of go and buy a set of arti vials.
