I'm trying to get functional on Mush, but between work school, and actually -playing- achaea, I don't have time to build a personalized system for scratch. Would it be unreasonable to just grab Vadi's, or another system for MUSH as I work on my own system, just so I can be functional in Mush?

Vadi's doesn't care what client you're using. You can use MUSH with it, zMud, telnet, and any of the other MUD clients.
