Had me all excited with 1 Reply and all. Bah. Nobody knows the coolness of Alaska until they experience it, Then they never leave.

Denex, go find a real state to live in

I want to go to Alaska badly. I have this affinity for snow-capped mountains pressed up against the ocean, and apparently the climate (unless you go incredibly far north) isn't too different from where I am currently. I also have a couple of drinking buddies who moved back to Kodiak that I miss terribly.

The summers : Alaska sits mid-70's, no humidity.

The Winters : Anchorage gets to maybe 0 at the coldest? But with No Humidity, 30 in Montana feels the same as 0 in Alaska.

At my work : Yea. -70 ambient with 70% humidity. Not a fun time.

Alaskas awesome!

What other state gives you a check yearly for $1400 just for living here? Exactly.

The only thing that would bother me is that they actually elected Sarah Palin the governor at one point. I mean, come on. What the -hell-?!

I won't disagree that Alaska is pretty awesome, but the above is false. I was in Anchorage over Christmas last year and it definitely got below 0. I wanna say with windchill it was like -30 degrees. Cold as hell.

-30? Maybe for 3 to 5 days at MOST. Standard cold in anchorage is 0 to -10. Fairbanks is a whole different story.

Living Expenses match roughly around San Diego.

With $1400 of extra beer money it's amazing they haven't voted a caribou into office yet.

A scene from your local Alaskan voting booth, circa 2006:

"Hmmm, who to vote for, who to vote for? Sarah who? Wait. I think she's the one that shot a moose on TV the other day. Or maybe she shot a Russian. Or maybe a Russian shot a moose. Bah. Anyway, could be she's that cutie from Big Red's Bar. WTF, I'll vote for her. *burp*"
