Hello Achaea, I seek advice on how to play my serpent, my first class in the game. Normally I use sumac on my enemies until they or I am dead, but a kind soul gave me an iron tipped whip not too long ago. That's great, but I am not sure if I am using it to the best of my abilities. So far I have 34 lessons in venom and 105 in subterfuge, but I think I cannot learn anymore abilities in subterfuge until I reach the 21st level? (I am level 14 at the moment.) The reason I ask this is that I seem to miss quite a bit with the whip than using the tried and true sumac method. Should I just level up till I can learn garrote in subterfuge?

Can't get garrote before level 20. At least, 90% positive you can't. Especially since, to bash up starting lessons, you have to learn venom so your sumac doesn't suck.

You can't get garrote until you are a Journeyman, so not until level 20 yeah. Otha's advice is the best: join a House. Houseless newbie serpents are doomed. (and please, don't be doomed. We need more serpents).

Garrote cannot be learned as a fledgling, as it is somewhere in the skillrank of Skilled (and not at inept).

EDIT: Serpents can stay, so long as we get rid of wormholes, evade, snipe, phase and rattle.
