Ok, made this because it sounds interesting. What would you like to see happen in your city? Tragedy? Changes to government or the way the city is (New building or such)? Stuff like that...

Cyrene:

I would love to be able to walk around in a big graveyard or something, it just seems weird to have the gravedigger stand there in that one spot basically...

I would like to see the workers around town have finished their work and there are no longer mounds of rubble in the street... angry.gif

More shops, especially ones that are not owned by Lisbethae (I don't hate you) (I think she owns quite a few of them in Cyrene)...

A crazy Runewarden or Mojushaian or Bard that wanders around town in their cups and tells storys (Like Indalecio sometimes)... mellow.gif

A Cyrenian winery (Or Ice-cream!)...

Maybe... An underground part of Cyrene (Like Lea Monde in VS?)... ph34r.gif

Something to do with Lance, or Shadya gets kidnapped! ph34r.gif

I'll think of more later. unsure.gif

I would really, really, really, really, really like to see large portions of Shallam destroyed and turned into beautifully described ruins with an aura of fallen grace. Except the Basilica and important things like the shops, newsroom, etc, because either I like them or they're important.

To coincide with a general air of 'no more freeloaders,' of course.

Hrm. Other than that, I'd like to see something done with the old temple of Deucalion outside the southeast gate. I'd like to see more done with the Palace- it's really a very beautifully-described area. Much of Shallam is beautifully-described, really.

I would like to see a plague strike the city of Ashtan, permanently killing off everyone outside of the Occultists, the Order of Oblivion, and Dagon, the barkeep-- in fact, I want to be the one to engineer and release it. I then want to share the secret with any city leaders (besides those in Hashan) who want to rid their city of an overwhelming population of village idiots. Once the purges have been completed, I will call in a favour to every leader in my debt, and the elite remainder will team up to rid Achaea once and for all of the burdens that are Hashan and the CIJ.

I'd love to see Mhaldor expand and be 'cleaned up.' Every time you see evil in 99% of the games its skulls, rats, guts, etc. Why can't evil look decent with regular streets and buildings? The cathedral is nice though but it's time to put those orc and mhuns to work.

I've never actually seen Mhaldor (I have no alts and my main is Eleusian), but this is a really stereotypical depiction of evil/hell. Something like what you're saying... I almost think it would be more sinister, because the evil isn't out in the open. It's lurking in corners, making you jump at shadows... a strong atmosphere of malevolence, dark clouds hovering over the city...

...That would be wicked.

Copycat! I obviously got rid of them, but I once had an event or two written out as Minister of Culture that would result in death and destruction, all for the good of the cause. That altar of Peace? It should be destroyed.

There will be no ice cream shoppes in Cyrene while I have anything to say about it.

There will be no changes to the number of shops in Cyrene, due to inter-city balance issues.

There are denizens that wander around telling stories, they just typically aren't automated, so you don't see them every day.

And as for the rubble, I think it gives the city some character. A perfectly-made city feels very fake to me. The scars of past events should be shown, so you can point to a boulder embedded in a wall and say that yes, this came from an ogre catapult, or you can look at a ripped-up street in a back alley and say that yes, this was from the time the treekin invaded the city. The workers signify that the city is fixing it in an IC manner, but in an OOC fashion they would be more likely to stay there until it is more advantageous to complete the repairs from a story perspective.

The Order of Oblivion, of course. It isn't -your- fault that the CIJ is filled asinine high schoolers whose interpretation of humour consists of fart jokes and puppet shows.

Heh, Ashtan doesn't have a strong atmosphere of malevolence. The Occultists are the closest Ashtan comes to "evil", and while they are rather dark, mysterious, and inarguably despicable in the moral sense, all the public knows for sure is that they're aloof, frigid toward outsiders, and have staked a claim over the best bar in the city.

I don't know. That seems like it's putting too much pride in isolated events and the longer it goes on, the less people are who remember it until it is a few old timers and Divine who created/participated in the event. Forgive my presumption and I like character plenty, but it disappoints me that a citizen or patron or whatever can't clean up their own street. I'd really like to push those boulders back in the ground or off to the side. There's no need to delay traffic, limited as it is in that section, because of something a hundred years ago. At least say they're not fixing the city, it gives people false hope.

As I recall, a while back, you claimed you like Cyrene just as it is, however, I am curious, IF there were a few changes to be had what might you like them to be? What things might you allow that seem reasonable?

Also! What do you think of the Ideals of Cyrene? Mostly Respect. I see nothing wrong with it, but... It just seems like it is thrown around and preached, it seems a bit pointless and sometimes abused (No I don't have any examples)...

I would [have] liked to see the entirety of Mhaldor actually look similar to the Cathedral. Evil in Achaea doesn't have to reflect dirtiness and blood everywhere (they have slaves to clean that crap anyway). I know Herenicus would love that, as well. If I could have, I would have given Mhaldor an entirely new face. Clean, wealthy, "high-tech", and the harbingers of all Evil!

...making it kind of like the Dubai of Achaea (plus Evil). I can only daydream, though.

I mean come on, that's just hot.
Neraeos
While these are good questions, any extensive response I make to the first would unfortunately cross the IC/OOC line. To gain the advice of the patron of Cyrene in this manner would necessitate you being the Imperiate; it is not the role of the patron to give such opinions to the general citizens of the city-state, due to the sheer strength of will behind the voice of a god. To do so would be to undermine secular authority and replace it with levels of theocratic control, which would not be good for the city and would be rather boring for me.

Finding my thoughts on city ideals will not be difficult. The typical Nereian will mirror my thoughts in this regard. The Nerai respect the bull that is bled upon the altar, afterall, and they respect the armies of the Forbidden Sea even as they join battle with the Vastarians. This is a slightly different interpretation from that of the city, and this virtue was initially OOCly designed (in winter 2002/2003, during the conceptualization of the Neraeos character) to limit, but not eliminate, excessive smacktalk from Nereian fighters. A Nereian calling an idea to be a very stupid one, and the originator to be a fool because of it, does not violate the Nereian virtue of respect, for that act would be supporting the virtue of excellence by weeding out stupidity. This is why some Nerai may be thought to be harsh and unforgiving at times, particularly in comparison to typical secular Cyrenians - the respect of the Nerai is to the state, not to the individual (see Thucydides' "History of the Peloponnesian War" and Plato's "Republic", as well as introductory texts on wildlife population ecology and population genetics as the underlying basis behind Nereian virtues and political theory). The Cyrenian version of respect was an issue in the very recent past due to its over- and mis-use, but I feel that it is now being seen for what it is, and is being treated accordingly. There is still considerable room for improvement with regards to "respect" in Cyrene, but improvement has been had, largely due to the efforts of several pro-active senators.
