Full Version: Diminishing Returns

I was just trying to figure out if I added one more con to my max HP what the final number would be. Using the old formula: 300+(3*con*lvl)+(4*con). But it obviosuly isn't even giving my current hp, since it is over shooting it by a long shot (300+).

I've never been a math whiz but was curious if anyone had figured out:

1. Does diminishing returns affect all stats?

2. How can I go about formulating something to take into account diminishing returns?

3. Does percent gains stack on each other or only on the base health? (i.e. +15% health, then +10% health and mana, is it +25% total, or does one happen before the other?)

If anyone is able to help out, thank you very much in advance!

Well, the main problem is that your formula is wrong. Max Health = (3*constitution+4)*level + 300

As for percent increases, they stack with each other. So if you have two 15% health bonuses, your max health would be MaxHealth*1.15*1.15.

You know Sena, I've been reading a lot of posts from you lately, and you're growing to be one of my favorites.

Thank you for the help!

I'm at work now, so I'll have to check it out when I get home. What about the percentage increases? Any ideas? I can most likely figure it out since the formula is right now.

Try using this formula for calculating your maximum health: 300+(3*constitution*level)+(4*level)

You won't see any diminishing returns for health or mana, ever. When you go up in consitution your health will increase based upon the above formula. Same with mana if you just subsitute your intelligence in for constitution.

As far as bonuses in health I'm not sure how exactly they stack with each other.

Edit: ninja'd by Sena.

I edited my post to add that, but apparently I forgot to click "Complete Edit" so it was about 15 minutes late. tongue.gif

actually after level 100 the formula doesn't work anymore, it just adds x health/mana per level to what you already had

Is x the same number for every character regardless of con/int? Because the current formula for 1-100 also adds x health every level to what you already had, x is just determined by your stats. Going from level 1 to level 2 gives you an extra 40 health at 12 con, going from level 90 to level 91 still gives you an extra 40 health at 12 con, for example.

Also, could you give an example of how much health/con you have at a level above 100?
Veldrin
Level 101 Grook 9 Con, 17 int

Health: 3411 Mana: 5835
according to the formula I should have
Health: 3431 Mana: 5855

Level 101 Dragon 20 Con, 18 int
Health: 6744 Mana: 6138
according to the formula I should have
Health: 6764 Mana: 6158

Could look like it is the regular formula -20?
The difference from what we actually have and what we should have according to the formula is 20 each time
Sena
Interesting. It looks like I'd need to see other levels above 100 to try and work out a formula though.

anyone above me in rankings is somewhere above level 101 tongue.gif

If you're lucky, Xandeus might post. He's a beast.
