PREFACE: I'm writing this mostly because I want to give people a glimpse at my character, Mardosi, and because I sort of want to tell a story. It's loosely based on actual events going on in game, and by no means 100% true. Depending on the response to this, I may write more. It's been a while since I've written prose, so it may be a bit shoddy. Let me know what you think.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mardosi lay sprawled in the trees above the broken court where the statue of Euterpe, the Giver of Pleasure once stood in Cyrene's Garden of the Arts. Part of him died the day the Garden fell, and the controversy surrounding the validity of the muses' existance continually contributed to the hardening of his once soft heart. As he surveyed the chaos beneath him he recalled the days of his youth, and all of his fire and passion. While his ambition has not once wavered, his faith in himself has fallen steadily along with his faith in the rest of mortalkind.

"What can I do?", He whispered to himself. "Everything seems so futile."

He climbed down from the treetops and travelled to the Performance Hall of Ty Beirdd. He entered the hall and travelled to the Provost's office.

"If only I were Provost... I could... but there's no reason to... it's not the right time."

He stood outside the office for some time, going over each and every one of the problems he saw with his house, his city, Sapience as a whole. He was sure that he had the answer... that he could fix everything... optimize everything, if only he had the chance.

"I need to be more assertive. I need to take control," he thought to himself. "Yes, it's time that I take charge... but if fail, I'll be back at square one. But I must come to a decision soon. First I have to gauge... no! I must act now..."

With a nod of head and an ironically meager feeling of confidence, he lifted his hand and knocked on the door.

"Sancero, we need to talk."

As he heard the lock on the door click, he took a deep breath to compose himself.

"Come in," said the old Atavian houseleader as he opened the door. "Have a seat."

"So," the Provost said, a welcoming smile on his face. "What do you want to talk about?"
-----------------------------

What does Mardosi do next? Does he do as he planned and tell the Provost he's going to contest him? Does he decide it's not the best option at the time? Does he chicken out and do nothing? Find out in the next issue of 'Identity Crisis'.

Have you had this conversation with Sancero yet? If not, he's going to be in for SUCH a surprise.

unrelated to snickering:

I would vote for Sancero over Mardosi. I dunno, one seems established, focused and strong enough to get things done. The other just strikes me as a little flighty, a little unsure, and an amazing ability to let that insecurity boil forth as rage at someone daring to not believe or trust in him.

Opinions are not those of any of my characters and holding them against my characters will make me have to stab your eye out with a spork. A spork ya hear?!

GASP I heard Goryllin supports Sancero over Mardosi in the Ty Beirdd revolution!

Mardosi hasn't had this conversation with Sancero because he doesn't have to remember that this is only VERY LOOSELY based on true events. Also, Sancero doesn't read the Forums.

But, but... you don't even know the issues!!!

Don't worry I won't run into the game screaming 'WHY DON"T YOU TRUST ME?' and flailing at you angrily with a rapier. I won't say my IC/OOC barrier is perfect, but responses to this are not likely to cause any affect on my behavior in game. This is a work of fictional fiction. While some thoughts and expressions here are reflections of the character Mardosi, they are not an accurate reflection of the character in his current state in the game.

Heh. Hey man, Gory had to go through his own HouseLord and HirdMaster telling him, By the way, I voted for the other person in your senate election.

That really gives you confidence!

Who'd you run against again? I forget.

And I don't really care who runs the bards, by the way.

That was so long ago....

It was the girl whose name started with M that was the chancellor at the time, wasnt it? I keep thinking Madelyne but that would have easily explained Metzger's vote, so thats probably not it.
Metzger
I can tell you without any doubt it was not Madelyne. All I remember is it was someone female. Oh well! Not important enough to dig through city posts for the name.
Kaelyn
Moragaine. Alongside me, too!

I don't talk to Sancero in or out of the game. So. No.

Nothing remains a secret. Our community is too small. You can't un-know something, you can pretend you don't know, but it isn't the same thing.
Talesinger
Oh well, even if he did read it, it's irrelevant.

This is not a conversation Mardosi needs, or wants to have with Sancero. If it somehow got to him, he's mature enough not to bring it IG.
Metzger
Probably. But it'd be really fun if he had a venom-spewing overreaction. tongue.gif
Otha
I still remember Mardosi trying to con me out of money sad.gif

Sancero wouldn't do that!
