All right. I know triggers are extremely useful, and are, essentially, a necessity when it comes to combat. . . but to what extent? I knew they were used a lot, but I recently stumbled upon what someone called a "battle system" (which, from what I saw, was a compilation of triggers, aliases and macros -- mostly triggers), and it was absolutely huge. It seemed like everything was included in the trigger.

Now, when it comes to combat, does either party actually. . . do anything?
Or is it, essentially, "stab [target], sit back and let the triggers do the rest of the work" ?

If the latter is the case, I'll have to learn more about scripting and the like than I thought.

Offence is usually all manual, aliases/macros etc. Defence depends on the fighter. Some have systems that cure everything for them and others have a mixture of manual/trigger.

When really getting into combat it is most helpful to think that their curing system will cure absolutely everything, then figure out ways to make that impossible. Affliction stacking to take away the possibility for all the afflictions to be cured at once, for example.

If there are 5 afflictions that need the same method to cure, the opponent will need to cure them one at a time unless they have special abilities. Herb/salve balance are key things in combat.

By starting off with the assumption that everything will be cured unless you make it impossible, then you've already gone around curing systems and just need to figure out new and innovative ways to make things impossible to survive for your opponents.

Also, learning to script well will help you immensely, regardless.

During a fight, my fingers are flying all over the place, especially when I'm playing Serpent form.

typing is pretty much essential at top tier. not that I would know of course.
Rynn
I can type and react pretty well. Far better than I used to anyway. Used to get shaky and jittery in combat outside of the arena. Now just have to make sure I don't jump the gun on getting full balance back and screw my combos up.

When fighting I just put on my autobasher and sit back.

Or maybe you know because you were the best there ever was...without typing.

I was going to write something here about my setups as various classes, but the basic point is, all my offense is manual.

Don't you have to set it to "mind crush @target" rather than "sdk @target;ucp @target;ucp @target" so they can't parry?
