Full Version: Mapper For Mushclient

There's one reason I like the new flashclient, and that's the Map window that comes up. Sadly the keypad direction option seems to only work every so often.
(The Keypad is why I moved to MUSHClient) Anyway, one of my biggets problems is that I have to press MAP every few rooms to know the exact direction to go or just spam the keypad 'til I get there.

Is there a current tool like this created, is it a plugin, can I save it in notepad, and how and where do I save it?

I put in my actions and triggers manually but I'm pretty lost with scripting in MUSHClient (I think my triggers and aliases are in Lua, not knowing what language I'm writing them in should prove how lost I am.)

Vadi's mapper works. I don't remember if it's still free or if you'd need to buy the system though.
Naifos
I'd rather not switchs if possible, but if there's no answer where would I look to Download Vadi's System and which do you mean isn't free?

Edit: You had answered the second.
Sena
It looks like Soludra made a Mushclient plugin that gives you a map window too. http://forums.achaea.com/index.php?showtopic=37870

Vadi's system works for any client, it's a separate program that functions between the client and Achaea. I just checked his site, you can use the mapper for free, but it won't be supported. http://vadisystems.com/vadi-mapper/index.php/News:Portal

Man! At the risk of sounding like an idiot, what words did you run through the search option? I swore I tried everything.

Edite: Tried Looking Everywhere for the topic on this in the forums

I searched for "map window", it was the very first result, not counting this topic. tongue.gif

Yes! I made a map window for MUSHclient, it should be in my signature. biggrin.gif

Yes, please do.

Edit: Graah, Neither Vadis nor Soludra's Mappers seem to be working
Vadi's is acting weird even before I'm actually in MUSH so I'm trying to use Saludra's

I'm bad with plugins but here's what I did

Right-clicked link to the link http://jonathan.com/achaea/MapWindow.xml

Selected Save Target As

Moved the Place to save to Plugins in the MUSHClient folder,

Saved

Ditto with atcp in plugin

Went to mushclient File and Plugin Added Mapwindow
Added Atcp

opened my world

"Map Move 1000 1000"

"Set Radius 5"*

"Set Width 5"

"Set Height 5"

Moved to a few rooms pressing "MAP"

Eventually some words came up, what seemed like jibberish.
Anyone Know What Happened?

*If I typed simply "Set Radius" without a number it gave me an error message. I never really configured my map out of 5x5 so it's not much, just thought it was weird.

Does anyone know how to install the macro kepads on the new flash client?

My whole plugins setup is a little wonky right now, particularly concerning the ATCP plugins. Basically, you want to go to http://www.jonathan.com/achaea/plugins and get the two files under 'Misc.', saving them where the page tells you to. Also get the MapWindow plugin to make sure you have the most up-to-date version. Then re-install the plugins in MUSHclient, and disconnect/reconnect to Achaea.

If it doesn't work, there's a few things that might've caused some trouble. Feel free to poke me in-game or on AIM for help (my AIM username is on my profile). And just so you know, the plugin isn't really a "mapper"; it just copies the in-game MAP and puts it in a miniwindow. Hence, it won't display anything where there's no MAP. (Also, if it mysteriously stops updating after you die or something, or you stop getting output from Achaea, hit MAP a couple times to try to dislodge it.)

As far as I know, FMUD doesn't support keybindings. gah.gif

The vadi mapper is free without the system, you just have to compile it on your own, which sadly, I don't know how to do.

It's a really good map that's updated constantly.

Vadi's mapper compiled by Dusty, ready to use. Just go to post #14, download the latest version, and follow the instructions at the top of the topic to get it working. Not very hard at all to do, if you follow what Dusty says.

Of course, because it's free I don't think Vadi will provide support, but it's not hard to use really.

Any news about that plugin you were working on to load the map images directly from the Achaea server using the ATCP url data?

I mentioned that was possible, but the actual map plugin I've wanted to do would load the area maps from my maps website instead. The Client.Map URL image doesn't add a whole lot when the MAP suffices just fine.

Great, exactly what I wanted. Unfortunately when the map comes up it stays static, (doesn't move from room to room with me.)

For it to come up
I must press map immidiately after Logging in, if I don't it takes the text that appears (If I bring up ab so and so) it will take that list, take every other letter out, and then puts it in the map window. Any Ideas? When I hit map radius (#) it disappears, when I type 'map parse' it won't go through oddly enough. This is definitely the thing that worked the most for me. I'm completely lost with why vadi's doesn't map for me. The Map in the link you mentioned in the previous post is the most up to date map window right?
Soludra
We sorted it out in-game. For reference, the solution was to ensure that "Convert IAC EOR/GA to newline" was checked in Game -> Configure -> Output, and also to connect directly to Achaea instead of through the vadimapper proxy, because the standalone Vadi mapper doesn't allow for any way to pass ATCP data through to the client as far as I know.

I've taken it upon me to produce such a plugin, using the luasocket library. That library looks really nice, but I fail to understand how to actually use it in MUSHclient. What files do I have to copy where? I found a topic about it on the MUSHclient forums, but it describes the installation of an old version, and much has changed with the library since then. The library can be found at http://www.tecgraf.puc-rio.br/~diego/professional/luasocket/. I have no clue what to do to get it working. There's an installation guide on that website aswell, but it is chinese to me.

Free to use Vadi-mapper compiled by Dusty works out of the box for Mushclient on WinXP. All you need is to read the readme, then start mudbot first (included) then rewrite your IP in Mushclient from achaea.com to localhost port 23 or 127.0.0.1 port 23.

After you log in to Achaea just type: goto <area name> to use the Vadi-mapper.

hint: type MHELP to get a nicely written help about Vadi-mapper.

hint2: Vadi-mapper knows how to create a miniwindow with a map for you if you want it.

It doesn't support adding further keybindings, however you can customize the existing ones. Click on settings and then the macros tab and you can edit them from there. By default it should be set up to use the keypad for movement.

How did you manage to put it in a Miniwindow or are you talking about the MXP because that shows up in line with your text. You can normally put miniwindows off to the side which I can't with 'vmap window mxp/normal'. Also with MXP whenever you do mind sense or farsight it re-shows the map which is annoying.
Lucano
So... how do you gag the vadi maps and put it on a miniwindow. MUSHclient.? Anyone has the plugin for that?
