I'm using MUSHclient 4.38 under Ubuntu (the same error occurs under 4.40). When I try to load the ACS2 plugin (from the Sourceforge page), an error window appears with the following information:

QUOTE
Error number: 0
Event: Run-time error
Description: [string "Plugin"]:23: attempt to call global 'DoErrorNote' (a nil value)

stack traceback:

[string "Plugin"]:23: in main chunk
Called by: Immediate execution

Afterwards, the error window will appear, saying "Line 339: Error parsing script."

Can someone please help me with this? I've only started learning anything about scripting a couple of days ago. I don't know what any of this means.

My Wine is set to emulate Windows 98. If I emulate any later version of Windows, MUSHclient crashes when I try to load ACS2.

Just FYI, that is because MUSHclient crashes under Wine emulating XP whenever the built-in editor is opened, and has nothing to do with ACS2 save for the fact the error you get is opened in a notepad window.

*nod* And Win98 emulation is recommended when running under Wine, so what you've done is find, Sadrigen.

I don't use ACS2, and have only used it tangentially while resolving ATCP starvation issues, so I can't help with the rest of the problem. Sorry!

Aha, so that's why. Weird...

Anyway, I've tried MUSHclient 3.80 as well, as the same problem occurs.

ACS2 installs just fine on Vista, but I don't have easy access to that computer. Am I really the only one with this problem?

I never used ACS and I don't support other people's scripts, so I can't answer that. But if it works under Vista and not Ubuntu/Wine, then something odd is going on. All of my plugins and scripts work under Ubuntu/Wine emulating 98, that I've tried, so I'm at a loss as to why his would have problems. Hmm. What version of Wine are you using?

Version 1.1.29 (Ubuntu 9.04). I only updated Wine a few days ago, and I never tried to install any plugins before this.

It seems that plugins won't install at all. It isn't just ACS2.

What are some of the errors you see with other plugins?

*nod* We need to see that to figure out what's wrong. I've been running MUSHclient fine on Wine for a while now. Currently running Ubuntu 9.04 and Wine 1.0.1.

On second examination, the plugins I attempted to install (all in the plugins folder) were mostly done in vbscript; I suppose Visual Basic isn't handled well in Linux. The Colour Note plugin installed just fine, but that was written in ###### ('jscript').

The Chat plugin written in Lua - lua_chat.xml - installed without a problem, as did the Installer_sumcheck plugin, also wriiten in Lua.

That makes sense. It's likely vbscript isn't installed, though it may be possible to install it in Wine. They, and java script (ignore the space, it's so the forums won't ### it out) plugins, normally run fine in Windows because vbscript and java script come with IE.
