Full Version: Best Places To Go?

Draea
I'm new to this game and hoping to get into some RPing. So I have some questions:

1. What's the best place to go in the game for that?
2. If I initiate an RP tag in a place, would someone respond? Or would it be better to find someone who's interested first?
3. Does this place ever have game-wide plots?

Thanks in advance!

Depends on your type of RP. I'd recommend Mhaldor, Eleusis or Shallam, since those are the main axes, but Shallam is rather down at the moment. I'd advice you to stay clear of Ashtan.

RP tag? Explain?
3. Does this place ever have game-wide plots?
Occationally, yes, but they're not very common (unfortunately).

Thanks in advance!

I meant something like... if I was just hanging around some place and emoted some actions, like "CHARACTER kicked a puppy", or something smile.gif

That really is too bad~those are fun!
About how often do they happen? Like...once a year or something? And how would we find out about those?

I'd say the answer is the same as the previous question. Although generally, if you do it enough, you'll get a response, even if it isn't the one you're looking for!

You'll find out about them pretty quick, unless you're a shut-in IC. There were more of them in the past (or at least it feels that way?) but it's been quite a while since the last event (as they're called). Perhaps once a year or so is a rough estimation.

Why emote that you're kicking a puppy when you can actually go and kick a puppy? You'll probably always get a response that way smile.gif

I believe you joined my House the other day-- which, by the way, is an excellent place to start if you're looking for a good roleplay experience. The Occultists tend to congregate publicly in Fire and Spice, which is a bar in the northwestern corner of Ashtan, close to Dockhand Square. If you're looking to get to know and roleplay with your Housemates, simply show up and introduce yourself. We aren't particularly "rainbows and bunnies", but we tend to be cordial enough, especially to newcomers.

Whether or not someone will respond to your roleplaying depends on a few factors, first and foremost being how well your plot fits in to the game's canon. It might be best to sit back and soak up the atmosphere of your House and city, to see what other people are doing and whether or not your storyline will mesh. You should research the history of the game, which you can find here, as well as the histories of your organizations, which can be found in-game using HELP HOUSE (House name), and HELP (city name). You may also want to read through the newsboards available to you (reading HELP NEWS in the game will explain how to use them) to stay informed on current events pertinent to Achaea and your organizations. This will all help to shape and cultivate your roleplay.

Sometimes there are worldwide plots in the game-- they average, from my experience, perhaps once per real-life year or so. Achaea is a very large game, so most roleplay will be generated through your House, city, and the Order of your chosen God, if you choose a religious path later on. Like I said before, you joined a very roleplay-intensive House, so you're on the right track.

If you ever have any questions or need any help in-game, feel free to come see me in Fire and Spice or send me a tell. I'm always glad to help, and I'd be glad to get involved with your RP ideas if you have any.
