Full Version: How Do You Configure Your Automapper?

Jaizsur
I'm wondering what the majority of Achaea uses for their automapper? Slow walk or Step walk?
Gorlasintan
People who use autowalkers are terrible people.
Jaizsur
We've already established I'm a terrible person. But anyone that uses a system is a terrible person. Go manual, bitch!

Nimby was the greatest person alive by the rules established in this system.
Xandeus
I use slow walk and I #tag all the pertinent map information (room name, exits, prompt) from Achaea because the auto-configure never gave me reliable results.
Jaizsur
Yeah, that's what I did. I've just been hearing a lot of people talking about having trouble overcoming the hasty messages and I was wondering if it was a far reaching problem or only a few people suffer from it.
Jonathin
I never used autowalk. I just let the map follow me around so I knew where to go.

edit: Pretty much like I do with the vadi-mapper now.

I have this problem with the hasty message. I trigger it to repeat the last directional command which only works about 2/3 of the time. For the other 1/3, the repeat command gets eaten up and was not sent and I will have to manually move to get the speedwalk going again. The manual move sometimes gets eaten up too, and I just have to repeat until it goes thru. Really strange. Will you appreciate any help in this.
Jonathin
Change the time it takes.

Config->configuration settings->speedwalking->step delay.

Alrighty! For all you slow-walk people:

Make a trigger to capture the last direction sent. For example:

Pattern: ^({n|s|e|w|nw|ne|sw|se|u|d|in|out})$
Value: #va LastDirection %1

Then, to stop zMUD from wigging out on you, when you get the hasty message send:

"@LastDirection hasty"

If you suffix your last direction with " hasty" or anything of that sort, zMUD won't get confused. Let me know if this doesn't make any sense or you have problems.

I could feasibly walk without a map, but it just makes it faster with one. Then again, it makes me waste time because I'd rather explore than bash.
Caprica
I tried using the hasty triggers, but the same problem is still there. Also, I realized that the auto #ok which is supposed to be sent on room name is not doing that even though I've set the configuration that way. At short periods of lag, the speedwalk commands will just overrun itself and mess up. Looks like this is not easy to solve. Thanks for the help though!
Jaizsur
Does your map match the room name or what?
Caprica
I think it does. I am using Larkin's map.

some map configurations:

Configuration/MUD Prompt tab:
Wait for prompt in SLOW Speedwalking is checked

Speedwalking tab:
under Speedwalking Mode - SLOW
under Automatic step confirmation - Match Room Name
Jaizsur
Are you using Larkin's triggers too? Larkin is a zMUD computer god so I figure his scripts will work perfectly.

You dont press "MAP" every few rooms?
When I'm in a non mapped location I find myself with my eyes rolling in the back of my head trying to remember east and west or on a pathway pushing hotkeys quickly... I'd probably spend half as much time in the forests if there weren't any maps.

Yet another proof of my theory that Taraza is terrible people.

And anyone who enters grates at Stygian to get to somewhere.

Nope. I sometimes do just to look at the map (purty...), but I never use it.
Sena
I use the map command sometimes, but generally it's to see where I am, instead of to find my way somewhere. Looking at the map and looking at the exits line are pretty much my only mechanical methods of navigation, I usually have no clue what the room names are unless I'm extremely familiar with the area.
Dusty
I have a general idea of how the world is mapped out and I spam direction buttons on my numpad until I get to where I want to go. No directions or map needed!
