Full Version: Selective Denizen Citizening

Having a City denizen who can autocitizen is nice and saves a lot of time. Occasionally, though, there are certain newbies under the age of 25 that you direct to an Ambassador for an interview/etc. Problem is, there's no way to ensure that they don't run to the denizen and get inducted. Indeed, quite a few novices are pointed toward the denizen by overly-helpful citizens who may not have access to the amblogs, which sort of defeats the point of having any waiting policy in the first place.

What I'd like to see is a method by which you can disallow at the very least individual people, or possibly people who have been a member of a City before; likely you wouldn't want someone who was a member of a City diametrically opposed to yours merely jumping in as though their former stint had never occurred.

Additionally, it encourages more interaction between novices and Ambassador aides or the Ambassador his/herself, which can only help City identity and, consequently, roleplay.

The syntax would be easy; TELL <denizen> DISALLOW <newbie>.

Thanks for your time. Thoughts?

(True) newbie life is already quite complicated in Achaea. Grace period until they are 20 seems fine to me.

When people ask me about joining Eleusis, even newbies, I refer them to our inducters, not to the denizen. It allows for more communication, and better rp.

I would not have a problem with the above if it is used for people who left a city due to problems. Not for newbies who accidentally quit the city.

Newbies who joined via Certimene and accidentally quit could be reinducted by the denizen; newbies who quit and joined, say, Mhaldor (if we're talking Shallam), quit there, and asked me to come back to Shallam would need to speak with someone.

There are occasionally cases which arise, as well, that need a certain amount of attention. For instance, there was an incident in Shallam an hour or so ago wherein a newbie who went around attacking Shallam's denizens to try to get the attention of its Citymembers to get citizened. In the event that this actually is a newbie (I've read a similar thing or two in the thread about first characters on the forums), I wouldn't want this person to be enemied and cast by the wayside; at the same time, I do think it would benefit the City and the newbie both if the newbie went through the normal procedure and spoke with an Ambassadorial aide, if not the Ambassador.

Sending them to a denizen in a case like this is like sending them to help files: efficient, but inelegant, especially in a game where the way in which a result is brought about is as important, if not more so, than the actual result itself.

EDIT: Practically speaking, as well, it would keep tabs on the newbie, who otherwise might namechange.

I agree, lower the citizening age to 20, and reject the rest of Mathonwy's proposal, for obvious reasons.

Lower age to 20.

Allow one additional citizenship request from 20-25 or whatever the current age is now? Similar to how the new reincarnation works.
