So Ive been gone for some months now, this name of course not being my main. I had a few ideas for RP, from the start including my background and how I would like to play. So I will start off and if you have any suggestions or comments let me know.
BACKGROUND -
I was born of the Faringian tribe which inhabit the east side of Eirenwaar Island. I have the tribes symbol on my left forearm. I also have another symbol on my right forearm which appears to be my family's crest, but I knew very little of my parents to know my own last name. My mother was enslaved by the Beduri who inhabited the other side of the island. After my father came back from the Great Hunt one year, he set off to try and free my mother. I was left with the town elder when he left. It was not a few hour later that the mountain pass was covered by an avalanche which entombed my father. I have yet to see either of my parents. All of this information was passed to me from the elder the day that she made me leave the town for I knew nothing of either of them. My remaining time left on the island I helped prepare for the second Great Hunt. This is a major ritual for our tribe where young men go out with the elders of the tribe to prove themselves and to gain the honor of their family. Once you come back from the Great Hunt you where set off towards the mainland and enrolled in the Trial of Rebirth where you cuold take on a new path in life.I was set to go on the journey when our leader, , told me that I was going on a different quest. Every year a group of our tribe's healers set out for the mainland to gather herbs to make new medicine for the coming year. I was told that I was going to protect them from harm. Infuriated that I could not go on the Great Hunt, I planned to sabotage the boat so that no one would survive the trip. The day we got onto the boat, I put a small hole in the side of our boat which would ensure we would sink out at sea. I laughed at the thought of Death, for Death did not scare me. I embraced it when learning of my parents death, and I vowed that I would one day come back to the island and kill everyone involved in my parents deaths. I wanted revenge.
About two days into our sailing journey, the seas took for the worst and we hit a very bad storm. Our boat was thrown way of course and it was not until the next day people realized where we were. The damage to the boat was beyond repair. My hole was replaced by half the boat being torn apart. However, the storm was not completely over. We happen to just hit the center of it where all was calm. I grabbed my pack and placed only some robes and a few herbs. I knew the boat would not last. I grabbed a piece of wood and tied some left over vine to it. Tying the other end to my ankle I completed my raft. During one of the waves, while our boat was taking a beating and people where drowning, I jumped.
I drifted in the storm water, what seemed like years. Finally I hit land. I seemed to have lost most of the herbs in my pack from the water, so if I got sick, I was going to die. I traveled until the snow turned red from blood, and even then I walked more. About two days into my journey I found a cave. It was warm inside, but I could see no smoke. As I walked towards the back, I was met with two sets of eyes, one blue and one green. At first I though it was a human, because the eyes sat at my level, but I was gravely mistaken. Out from the shadows a beautiful all-white leopard came stalking forward. Its head was bigger than my chest, paws bigger than my head, and a body the size of a full grown horse. This leopard was huge. It seemed to have a trouble walking, for there was a big gash in its hind left leg. To be honest if this animal was hit by something bigger, I did not want to meet that animal, or thing. At first the leopard growled as its claws retracted from its paws. So I quietly backed out of the cave, making sure to try not and scare it.
I decided to make camp a good walk away from the cave. Luckily the snow was starting to melt and I was able to find shelter beneath some old trees. I took a branch and used what vine I had to make a bow. Taking a sharp rock from the ground I was able to make arrows. I hunted rabbits and foxes. Food was not much but it kept me from starving. Fires were the hardest to make because the trees where soaked from the snow. About three nights into my camp days, I met the leopard again. I was roasting a newly caught snow rabbit, and the leopard smelled the food. It scared me at first because at one moment nothing was going on, I was eating part of the rabbit and the next moment I had a cold wet nose on the side of my face. I jumped and made the giant leopard run away. I thought to myself and decided to toss a piece of the rabbit in the direction that the leopard went. Afterward I went to the lake I found to wash my hand, when I came back the cooked rabbit was gone.
The next day I decided to keep walking to see if I could find any civilization. It was about a two day hike when I came about some grasslands. The snow was gone and the sun was getting warmer and warmer the farther that I walked. The next night I heard something in the woods and decided to go after it, thinking it was food. To my surprise I ran into the leopard, but its fur was a dark brown color. I knew it was the same leopard for it had a large scar on the side of its left back leg. This time I tried to get closer to it. I carefully walked up to it and stuck my hand out to smell. It sniffed my hand and then licked it, apparently tasting the fox that I had earlier. I took what meat I had in my pack and fed it to the giant leopard. I ran my hand down the side of its flank and then something amazing happened. As my fingers ran in between the fur, it changed colors, from white to brown then to black then back to brown. This leopard could change the color of its fur to match its surroundings, giving it the best camouflage, but also making it a rare animal, for I have never seen the likes of it. The leopard took liking to me for it licked the side of my face and then pushed me to the ground with its paw. That is when I heard a voice inside of my head. I looked around thinking someone else was there in the woods but it was just me and the leopard. It said the same thing again "Hello human." That is when I looked and the leopard who had its paw on my chest. It seemed to nod in a way. The leopard removed its paw from my chest and then the voice cam back. It game it its name and explained why it has been following me, stating that Death has been walking with me, waiting for my to give up hope and die. She explained that she was my guardian. Every member of my tribe had a guardian of a different form, and that mine just happened to come in the form of a giant leopard.
The next few days we spent talking and discussing our past and what we wanted our future to hold. I explained that I wanted to enter the Trial of Rebirth and to grow up into something great, something my parents where never, and that the people in my tribe would never become. I wanted to be the exception to our history. So we agreed to help each other. I would protect her from physical harm, and she would guide me in the right path to become something my tribesmen would never dream of becoming. the days led on and we traveled until we found a suitable place to camp. From there I entered cities to find someone to lead my into the Trial of Rebirth. Finally I found a city teacher, and talked with them for hours. I was pointed in the right direction and was told to go to New Thera and from there I would be taken to the Trial. That is where I am at today, waiting to be approved, waiting to fulfill my dreams
END
Okay so of course, I am going to need a pet, white leopard with the description of changing fur and make it bigger than normal. Hopefully admins will let that slide considering my background and everything. I will not be big on combat ( tribe was peaceful and only used violence to hunt). Not really sure which alignment I would go into. I guess I will decide when I become the class I want to. More than likely I will become a Forestal, that or a magic user. From there I guess everything will be strictly IG and RP. So tell me what you think and how I think I should do things to make it easier on me

Other than that I would probably follow my own divine, maybe the whole One God thing like girl did in the Dragonlance series. To the point where my pet is a guardian who follows that one God. I still am unsure as to what class I will take up. Definitely the Human race, as to match my background and the people on the Island. Maybe Sentinel? For the whole hunter look, that or a knight, using my pet as my guardian.
House wise, I would want a House that strictly involves RP more than anything else. Combat isnt a must, for I wont be that much into it. The whole "Enough to hold my own." thing but nothing to serious for now. Still not sure what alignment I should be though. Good and Evil seem to be the predominant ones in the game.
As for city, I think I will be city less, until I can somehow fit it into my RP scheme. Though i wont really have any set goals besides the whole vengeance thing on the Island. Eventually want to become Dragon but thats not a must for right now
Any thoughts? I know most of you are gonna tl;dr but if someone would read all of the above and help me out it would be much appreciated.

A well thought out background. It could do well, though I am generally in favor of vague backgrounds for the flexability they give. The whole guardian thing is kinda... eh. It kinda sounds like you were chosen for some big purpose or other. Just gotta remember that your character should be considered "Mostly normal". Otherwise, you look like you're pretty set. Good luck.
Edit: Got the time to read over it in full. I have to question the reason anyone would turn suicidal over their parents murders. You clearly state that he wanted revenge, yet he puts a hole in the boat he is going to be on because he wants everyone on it to die. So what happened? Was he really that angry to kill a bunch of people because he didn't get to prove himself in the Great Hunt? You said this was a yearly thing, but not much was explained about it. Otherwise, that whole thing about worshipping that one god? That would be tough, there being already established Gods. I suggest worshipping only Sarapis and Sarapis alone and claiming that every other God is simply an aspect of Sarapis. Or, I guess you could go Vertani and worship the All. Anywho, good luck, again.

Guardian in the aspect that everyone has a protector. Like a Priest and his Angel. To the spiritual extent than anything else, the leopard is there to guide me to my goals and make sure I reach them. Granted I would roleplay my interactions with it. But when it comes down to it, its just a pet.

The hole in the boat was getting overly angry (advanced anger management, going to roleplay my "guardian" helping me become better at controlling my feelings) at the fact I could not prove myself in the Great Hunt (yearly thing where boys went with fathers to start the path of becoming a man, the Trial of Rebirth being the end of that path).

In the Dragonlance series, a solider (girl named Mina I think? Not to sure, its been awhile since I last read it) was given powers by the One God ( the God being, in terms of Achaea, the form of Sartan ( Evil and everything, wanted everything to die)) so that she could spread the One God's Word, and make everyone follow Her (Her being the female One God).
In a since Sarapis would be an awesome choice to follow and I thank you for that. I like the idea of all other Gods being a form of Sarapis or an aspect. My only question would be could it be possible to pull the whole All Gods are a part of Sarapis and No God is a God without being a part of Him??

Kinda like the Spiritwalkers have their spirit names and an alternate spirit form in the spirit world, if I remember correctly?

Simple. Sarapis created all the Gods. Could have very well put a part of himself into such a creation. After all, you gotta give to make, I guess. Alternatively, yet along the same train of thought, all the Gods are an aspect of Sarapis, because all the Gods use Divine essence. Since Sarapis created all the Gods, then Divine essence in general must come from Sarapis. Heck, it even says in the Mythos that Sarapis put a part of himself in all the Elder Gods. For that reason, you can give less worship to the Gods like Pentharian, Artemis, Hermes and so on, as they could be considered lesser aspects not being made directly by Sarapis himself. Exception to that being Neraeos, having the symbol of the Logos appear as he touched his fathers spear.

Yes very much like that. The use Spirit names to find their inner being to an extent. To find exactly what they are, or so what I got from the initial house learning.
As for the God thing. Saying Sarapis is the one and only God would be good, only trouble I would have is, if I worship Him, what happens to Neraoes. Where would He fit into all this. That and is Sarapis truly gone? As in His form is no longer here such as Sartan or is He still around?

Neraeos was a demigod when Caspian was found frozen with a look of horror on the throne, his hand just inches from his Trident. When the young Neraeos went to help his father and tried to put the trident in his hands, the symbol of the Logos appeared and all of Caspain's power was transfered to Neraeos, effectively making him a God.
As for Sarapis being truely gone, OOC, yes, Sarapis is gone. ICly, Sarapis gave the reigns of Creation over to Maya and left for parts unknown. Don't know how long he will be gone. It could be said that Sarapis gave Maya more power to effectivevly rule over Creation, therefore putting Maya somewhere just below Sarapis' level of power. Maya is a steward, awaiting the master's return.
And if you're gonna do this, don't just say that Sarapis is the only God, say that all the Gods are Sarapis, in a way. That way, it technically doesn't matter who you offer to, since it all is going to Sarapis regardless. It also means you would pretty much have to stay out of a bunch of religious conflict, as it is simply one or more aspect of Sarapis fighting another aspect of Sarapis. Kinda like how someone on a diet would debate if they should eat that third donut. Or, you could throw your lot in with the one aspect you like better.
The only loose thread in this tapestry is Babel. Most of the Gods, from what I have seen, don't like Babel. He was apparently supposed to keep the peace between Chaos and Creation, according to a couple Gods. Alas, it seems the power of Chaos has caused such a God to go insane and deviate from his role to attempt to destroy Creation for the Void of Oblivion, and thus, must be taken down to recycle any untainted essence to reuse and recreation and so on.

Is there a way to do this? All Gods (except Neraoes and Maya) are sort of like Moods of Sarapis. You have the "ZOMG lets play" ( Good aligned Gods) the "I don't care" ( Neutral ) the "I hate everything/I'm a bad a--" (Evil) and the "I am crazy" (Babel), while having Neraoes sort of like the conscience, cause He's a God but doesn't really fit in with the rest as in He was not created by Sarapis, and then Maya who Sarapis gave His remaining power to, making His form nothing?
Edit: That in turn making Sarapis the only True God, but all the others being a part of Him, how Apollyon and Shaitan where a part of Sartan but split and now are two different people. All the Gods together made Sarapis, and split he has different "moods/personalities"?
Eurulis
Aug 3 2009, 08:25 AM
You could definately effectively do this. It would be kinda cool to see, though the Gods might respond in intresting ways. And no, Neraeos had gotten Caspain's power transfered to him by the will of Sarapis Himself, becasue Caspain was not serving his initial fuction properly. Neraeos was given Godhood to do the job right. Having gotten all of Caspain's essence, Neraeos effectively became an aspect of Sarapis somewhere around the power of an Elder God. Maya is a steward. Sarapis simply left, yet gave the reigns of creation to Maya. Sarapis could very well be back again one day.

Okay so religion wise, I follow everyone because in a sense they are all apart of Sarapis in some form or another. Essence being distributed among them, meaning that I worship everyone, Good and Evil, Chaos and Balance. By doing so I serve Him. Maya being on the side as pretty much the co-pilot flying the plane while the captain goes to the bathroom.
The more I think of this, the more I want to hurry up and start this to see how the other gods take it. So I have everything but my class set. It would have to be a neutral class. Not really serving one side, such as apostate with evil, sentinel with nature. It would have to be either Serpent, Magi, Monk, Bard, Runewarden, or Shaman, unless some of those pertain to certain aspects of alignments. Not a bad selection, but hard to try and fit one of these into my background. Though it shouldn't be too hard with the thought of trying to be something better than the average hunter from the settlement.

Shaman sounds right for you, with the whole guardian thing. That's the only thing I got to go off of, in all reality, so I can't give much more input there. Just remember that this religion thing I put down could work in two ways. You could either accept all the Gods and offer to them on special occasions (Like not drowning and offering to Neraeos by shrine or sacrificing a goat in thanks for it), or you can join up with the aspects you like, viewing the darker, more violent aspects such as Shaitan and Apollyon as being the parts that you don't want to be like.
Edit: Oh, or you could give in to the darker side of the soul and worship the Twin Lords of Evil. Anywho, I'll stop construction of my massive walls of text. Good luck!

Thanks for your help, you've seem to be the only person to read the whole thing through. Shaman would be nice, I have always like the thought of curses and runes, but have not been around to see all the new changes. Once I can get the credits then I will start. Still gotta find the right House to join, and/or City to join as well, but I guess that will come in time, assuming the cities are still the same alignment, with Cyrene and Hashan not really caring, and Ashtan being neutral

The new changes are great, and Ashtan is far from neutral. It could be considered as going through an identity crisis right now. But that'd be getting off topic. Now then, I gotta stop posting so I can actually get some sleep. Good night and good luck.

Maybe he's just a psychopath?

Also, those alignment have never been the case. Ashtan has never been neutral, in all my time of playing, since late '01, always siding with freedom and chaos. Cyrene has always been on the good side of neutral. Hashan is the only one that has always been of the apathetic vein, claiming it as neutrality.

Babel is not just "crazy", and if you disregard him as a loopy, insane aspect of Sarapis (like Pandora

), you gonna git hurt. I'm a bit biased because I'm in Babel's order, but I still suggest you study up on him because he is just so very different from all the other Gods. *edit: And the ways in which he is different could greatly affect your char's view of him.

No no, let him get hurt. I want to see it when he figures out that an insane God can still talk circles around mortals -before- blowing them into the next eon. 'sides, he'll adapt from it, I'm sure.

If you're allowing an exception for Neraeos based on being a demigod beforehand, you're running into an RP problem, I think, namely:
- Gaia, before figuratively having Artemis with Makali (who later fused with Maya to become the Maya who replaced Sarapis), created Demeter who became Melantha after Gaia vanished;
- Indrani was a demon who stole essence from Pandemonium, twin brother to Pandora, both born to Aegis and Eris, who was the first of four Gods to be born of ascension. The others were Ourania (ascended from Elentari [who would go on to have Kastalia with Neraeos]), Pentharian (Maran La'Saen, who combined with the God Deucalion [who is the transformed form of Dunamis originally]), and the denizen Dawn Illoriel (who became Mithraea);
- Hermes was originally a Celani, who won his divinity in a bet with Raclawace, the Goddess of Rogues and Wanderers.
EDIT: all that work for a moot point, heh.

To continue Gods that weren't originally Gods.
- Keresis was Shaitan's dread Lord general he made into a God when she got the crap beaten out of her and she lay dying.
and something I wasn't clear on, were Aurora and Apollyon gods when they smacked into sapience with their ill-driven meteor? or did they get promoted to gods later?

This sounded a bit more hostile than I wanted it to. Simply put, roleplaying in Achaea doesn't always have to involve being a "unique snowflake" and extensive backstories aren't essential. Since it appears that you are looking forward to this, though, I don't think I should be the one to shoot you down. Good luck.

Aurora and Apollyon came into existence from the fall of the Morning Star. Shaitan immediately merged with Apollyon and become Sartan.
Ourania is a fusion of Elentari, Twilight's essence, and the pre-existing realm of the moon.
Eris was Servelan merged with the Unnamable Horror.
Pentharian was Maran combined with Deucalion originally, he also now contains Aurora's essence and was changed by running into Abbadon.
Kastalia was a tear of Ourania's that she shed when she left the sea after her long sleep, captured and nurtured by Neraeos.
Some Gods have been altered by each other as well.
Demeter and Eris also contain each other's essence, after a prank they simultaneously played on each other, hence the treekin, stickmen, and the chaos forest.
Pandemonium was also imbued with some of Indrani's essence, hence his darker nature compared to Pandora.
