How does one follow a diety that doesn't even have a order or shrines avaible. I've tried talking to numerous people but they don't have any idea. sent neraeos a tell...which was less than helpful.
Basically Kastalia Goddess of Rivers and Lakes is what I'm trying to find information about. Horuce being who he is see's her as the one goddess to follow as his value of water. Problem is though..no shrines,no well anything. I've been trying to find her temple. haha, heck I've even tried to search Riparium for the hidden temple that she was born in to ask the priest for information.
Is my character the only one who seeks to follow a god like this, or how would some one else go about finding ways to worship a god with litteraly nothing left of her?

The shrines must be gone because I've seen Her shrines(the fountain with a lily is Hers. Right?).

As far as I know yes, because I search around alot and never find any new shrines..or old ones. Does she even have a order? I don't know the questions to these but I'll keep searching..
(I should post my log of when I actually tried to get the creature from the green lake to give me information...that was fun

Get an amulet crafted to honor her. Dedicate whatever else it is your char does to her (hunting, fighting, crafting, singing, whatever). Hang around rivers and lakes when you're not doing anything else. Find everything you can about her teachings and have your char speak about them and follow them. Find a clan dedicated to her, or if there is none and you can find others who seek her, organize one. Your options are only limited by your imagination. You don't have the crutch of an active divine doing the work of deciding many things for you, but if you are creative, you don't need that.
Also, find her temple. I know it's still there, though you can't enter, the entrance is somewhere you could visit and hang around.

Aye, I'll work on that. and I'm still looking for her temple, thanks for the advice. (also her teachings, all I've found is what's in help rivers)

she has a temple and a few shrines. Along with that I think she may have an order. I can't tell you much more than that without divulging secrets but just because a Diety is dormant doesn't mean his or her order is dormant.

Also, an addendum, honor Ourania and Neraeos as they are her parents and active, so you can interact with them, even if it's just on the side and rare.

She does still have an Order, but not much of one, sadly

There's a clan and a temple and everything, you just have to look more. The Order was very focused on exploration and hidden areas etc when she was active, so it won't be easy to find.
She doesn't have many shrines because she got lumped into the nature gods list when Mhaldor started fighting them (to my sadness, personally)... Regardless, the other suggestions are fine. Talk to Delphinus or even ask a Nerai or two for suggestions/a hand. A few of them used to be Kastalians.

Untill just recently Varrock was a Child of Vengeance, and Keresis is dormant. What they say is correct...just because a divine is dormant does not mean you cannot follow/worship them. I know She still has a Temple...I've been there once...but honestly cannot remember where it is now. Good luck man.

It's really very rarely the case that there's "no well anything" or "literally nothing left" about a god/order to be found that exists or did once exist. Actually, I can't think of a single such instance. Sometimes it takes some persistence though, since orders aren't always the most public things. But almost always there are places of relevance to be found, people with suspicious titles to ask, items referring to a god's symbol to be discovered on something, histories in news posts or books to be found, etc. And if you follow such trails for a bit, you will usually find something useful - which may for instance be the name of an active order member one could approach, the name of an order clan, or a temple location.

As far as I'm aware Kastalia's Order was focused on exploration more than anything else. If you aren't the explorer type, you might want to choose someone else.
Really, if you're doing this because you value water, why not go with Neraeos? He's active, and (from an outside perspective) his Order seems like it is probably one of the most fun to belong to.
But if you really want to pursue Kastalia, listen to the above responses!

Because neraeos is salt water Kastalia was fresh water, which did go hand in hand with Horuce's mindset...but yea exploration is not on top of the list. ...hrm...and can't have one without the other...maybe I'll just do some soul searching in the game and decide which god to follow...(yea no idea what that means or who to have him follow, FOIG. huh? :?

The realms of Neraeos and Kastalia aren't the same, no, but they are close enough where it will be more beneficial to you to follow the active god, rather than the dormant goddess. It will be much more rewarding for you. And sometimes even if a god does come back, anyone in the order will be removed (see Sartan's order, Pandora's order, others I may not know about) so there are no guarantees if you follow a dormant goddess for 75ig years she will allow you in the order after.

It does depend on the god. Ourania only removed dormant members, and (usually) lets them come back when they apply.

I remember Horuce's RP reasons for following Kastalia and I don't think it would benefit his roleplay to choose Neraeos over Kastalia. Sure, Neraeos makes more OOC sense. In recent times playing Achaea, I've realized that my character decides what I can or cannot do, not the other way around. At nearly 200 in game years old, Rianara is pretty set in stone.
On topic again, there's no real reason why you'd know ICly that Delphinus is the OH of Kastalia's order. If you ever encounter this situation again, try just asking over Market or asking related orders (like the Nerai about Kastalia's, Aegis's order about Pandemonium/Pandora, etc. etc.). You don't really need an active divine to worship and follow them. A little IC guidance by mortals can help though.
Kastalia's order -is- more exploring than anything (which I think was quite the stretch IMO as far as realms go) but I like to think that it could be adapted to an actual river RP. Again, ask those in the order.
Do be warned though, most new people playing old gods will purge the order or nearly purge it. Just be willing for that to happen and keep to your RP to get back in. Good luck

As many have said before me, both the shrines and temple do exist. Whilst being the Goddess of lakes and rivers a very large aspect of her Order was to explore, and as such both her shrines and temple are very well hidden. I actually came across the temple by chance, instead of actually searching for it, but it still took a bit of work to find the location nevertheless.
Regardless, you are not the only person who's character seeks to follow a God that's dormant. Kaelyn followed Lord Scarlatti for a time, and also Lord Vastar before he returned. I've found that, regardless of how dormant or active a God is, it's inevitably up to the player to make it fun and interesting. You can be in a highly active Order, but not getting involved within the role will mean it can even more unstimulating than an inactive Order can be claimed to be.
I agree much with Trevize on this one. Throw yourself into the roleplay of following a God, regardless of whether you have the God present in the realms.
Selerin
Jul 9 2009, 06:25 PM
Selerin is still very much a loyal follower of Lord Scarlatti. Absolutely love the roleplay involved in following a dormant god (or when he was active...that was awesome, too). Only problem is playing a character that doesn't want to leave the temple, anymore. *grin*
As long as you're not the only one in the order, it's never dead nor dormant. Just...in stasis.

If you're looking for a more active Order that venerates water and isn't exploration- or nature-oriented, you could look into that aspect of the Order of Agatheis. Of course, that brings with it its own extra beliefs.

I'd wager the membership of Agatheis's Order is less dormant than the membership of Kastalia's, even if marginally so. This isn't to say it is only marginally so.

In my humble personal opinion, Horuce, I really think you should go with your old desert god idea.
Like, something based on Set or Horus, but more tribal and less pharaoh-influenced, would be awesome.
I, at least, am going to start a character headed towards that.
Sure, it's nutty makin' up your own Divine, but I think Kastalia would be a stretch for your purposes, and isn't good enough just 'cause she's a real figure in the game.
Go evil crazy hawk-headed mirage god of the Mojave...or something vaguely in that direction.

This is just my opinion. Making up a random God that doesn't exist in a world where Gods have a proven existence would only give the impression that you're RPing a complete and total nutter.

Your char can believe or disbelieve whatever you want him to. Just keep in mind what effects there will be. For characters, some things are 'normal' (worshiping a God that exists like Aegis), some things are are interesting (worshiping a God that isn't around like Babel), some things are silly (worshiping a God that is made-up), some things are insane (worshiping a rock).

There's a stone idol in the game, which I used to visit and make blood sacrifices to. Then someone implanted a grove there and asked me to leave once I started burying daggers and offerings to the idol. It made life a lot less interesting for my proteges, and I had to drop my 'rite of mentorship'. Why did I worship an Idol? Because it was fun to RP.
ON THE ORIGINAL TOPIC... there are still shrines to Kastalia, Tharvis, but some you will have to offer to by proxy. They're not quite within reach of everyone. Find out IG. Make a public post asking for any and all information. Offer some sort of reward. Beg, plead, and otherwise bargain.

Worshiping an idol is different from worshiping a rock. An idol is a physical symbol of a greater something, be it a god, force, or other belief. Unless you were actually worshiping a piece of granite that just happened to be carved into an idol, but that would mean you could offer sacrifices at any piece of granite, not just that idol.
I don't see why you should stop offering there just because someone implanted a grove, though. Druids and Sylvans don't own the forest, or their groves, they just feel an affinity for them and look after them. So long as you aren't damaging the forest or the grove, they have no business telling you not to come around. Besides, if someone showed up and told you to give up your religion, would you let it go so easily?

To be honest, though, it was so badly ruined that it was simply an effigy of nothing. I suppose that's why it was so enjoyable to worship it. A lot like the chapels in Mhaldor and Shallam, or St Pauls in London- you don't need to believe in the religion to be in awe of it. I took some drawings. I'll see if I can't upload it into the blank canvas.
Also, though the blood letting was making me woozy, I think I'll take this up again. The idol should be- nay, must be worshipped.
