Full Version: Warning- New Character
Achaea's Forums > Everything Achaea > The Blank Canvas
Selerin
So, here's the thing. I've made a new main and I've switched completely onto this character. The reason for this is the fact that I go onto Achaea to ROLEPLAY...and it's not really any fun when all your character wants to do is hide in a temple and do nothing all day. Essentially, Selerin is a broken character that's settled in her ways and doesn't want to do anything else. I'm not going to fight this and I'm not going to force her into doing anything since that tends to break characters. Call it a cop out if you will...but I've RPed enough characters to know when to bow out and leave them to their devices.

I still go on Selerin to check messages. Just saying.

The reason that I'm posting in THIS area is because of the fact that I do artwork. In time, it will become probably disgustingly easy to figure out who my new alt is. Why is this? While I can change characters, I can't change my art style fast or well enough to disguise who I am...not to mention, the topics of my art are probably going to give me away. I'm not even going to bother to go completely out of my way but I will say that I've been trying to not have art be the focus of this character nor will it be until it's the character's time. I COULD stop doing art and leave that to just Selerin but I think of that as being cheap and art is just something that I enjoy doing.

That being said, I would HIGHLY appreciate one thing being done. If you discover who I am due to my artwork being shown, do NOT assume that you can get me to break character and talk about things going on in Scarlatti's Order or to switch/break character. I will talk art. I will not talk about anything else. Do not bother. New character, new start.

Thank you!

PS. If this is deemed to be in the wrong section, I'm sorry. I thought it to be rather art related, in an important sense since most people in this thread have seen my doodles and submissions.
Des
Just submit artisanals under your old account and transfer the credits.
Selerin
That's what I've been doing...but, as I said, I feel cheap doing that since you'd still be seeing submissions from another character's POV.

Besides that, artisanals are assumed to be coming from your character. Ah well, I'll use Selerin for art commissions anyways. Hence why I said I'd check my messages on her.
Lana
Actually, Artisanals are coming from the player, not the character. Hence they're OOC credits. If they were supposed to be only from the character point of view, they'd be IC credits and thus non-transferrable to your alts.
Exelethril
Nevermind.
Selerin
Okay. People. Apparently I need to make my original points more obvious.

One- I view the artisanals as a mostly IC thing. Why is this? It's just something that I do. If you don't like it, tough. Besides that, I made the post HERE because of the doodles I sometimes submit HERE. I don't really care much about the credit transferring and all that jazz.

Two- I'm not saying 'Hay guiz, I made a new character and I'm trying to hide who I am'. No, the character WILL be doing artwork so it will be obvious that it's me. This is just me saying, 'hey guys, I'm making a new character. Some people (specific ones) don't drag IC things from Selerin to this one'. That's just ridiculous.

Three- It'll be even more obvious when I'm drawing pictures of this new character. Painfully obvious. I COULD make a new account on the forum for this new character but my artwork will STILL give me away. I say this from past experience.

Four- I'm saving my behind from people that might accuse me of stealing/copying my own artwork. That's happened before. It was very annoying to be called an art thief.
Exelethril
Hmm, cant you change Selerin's habits ..?
Selerin
Absolutely not. Then she wouldn't be Selerin anymore.

I'll miss Selerin sad.gif

But I am glad you'll still be hanging around the forums and whatnot. Good luck on your new character! Hope people don't ruin it once they see who your alt is.

Its very funny when people talk about how they can't change a characters. You can change characters attitude its not hard. your character in despite of everything you say DOES NOT EXIST. you can change it to be pretty much you want and all this drama your feeling about, doesn't even matter. so enjoy your pity party, of how you can't change your own character...

Mkay. I never said I was pitying myself. In fact, there's no attached drama to this scenario so I'm not entirely certainly why you're getting all up in arms about it. I actually am glad that she's developed enough that I can back away from her and not feel like I'm missing out on something.

Also, the reason why I'm changing characters isn't even the main point of this thread.

Kindly take your attitude elsewhere, good sir. smile.gif

I take it you don't do serious roleplay? laugh.gif I know Selerin, this isn't a pity party at all. I've dropped chars for the same reason. If you want to truly make as real of a character as you can, you define how it starts and let it go from there. Sure, you can change it - but if you're used to giving characters life and enjoying how they turn out as much as everyone else is, it completely ruins that aspect of roleplaying if you change it for your own reasons.

Here's an example for you I've heard used often. If you've ever played with a ouija board board but don't believe in the spirits talking through it, you'll see most of the fun as letting what happens, happen. You're a part of it, and can take control, but not taking control is more fun in the long run.

I liked Selerin. She made me smile ohno.gif

This same kind of thing kind of happened to me. I play a new main and people have guessed who I am just by my fighting style sad.gif

Here's a hint. Using the same retarded -ing tildes for punctuation is not a good way to start off your new character.
Gorlasintan
TILDES ARE NOT END-OF-SENTENCE PUNCTUATION.

Yeah, I've been caught in my other games for having similar artwork. Doesn't matter what medium I use, the moment there's a picture it's a game over. This is especially true in a relatively small game with a playerbase like Achaea.

I don't use it for my new character, thank you.

Who is Selerin? I saw some art....
Saadya
<newmain> tells you, "Hey lol I'm <oldmain> induct me into <ooc clan> pls.

Never heard of Selerin either. Probably because I don't play any Hashani characters.
Selerin
You know, I hate to be the one to point this out but...if you don't know Selerin, then this thread is obviously not directed at you. Feel free to continue increasing your post count, though!

That being said, I'm done~

Tildes are not proper punctuation~
