Yo. Anybody want to have a drink or three in San Diego this weekend/next week? I'll be there for a conference and need somebody to buy me appetizers while I regale them with stories of my non text-based exploits. Ask Laorir and Lyndee just how much fun it can be (see: Washington D.C., 2008).
Reply here or just name the place and time.
I may or may not look anything like a huge axe-wielding troll in real life.

The people have been misinformed as to the democratic nature of this process.
I will continue to rest on my laurels until I'm violently thrown from office.

You had to do it when my husband and I go broke, didn't you? I would have loved to have met up. Maybe next time!

Consider yourself usurped.

I've been usurped.
And Trilliana, we can eat/drink on the cheap. Of all the places in D.C. he could have suggested, Laorir, Lyndee and I met up at TGI Friday's. So, they set the bar pretty low (pun intentional).

I prefer to think of it as convenient rather than low class. But yea go drink with him. Cool guy. He'll tell ya stories about his crazy research and stuff.

I've left San Diego for new adventures in Asia. I'll let you know how that goes when this f-ing row boat finally makes it.
..Well, not really a row boat. But its slow like one.

I guess Riverside is pretty far away? Maybe next time.

Depending on traffic it's about 3 hours away, it's just the gas prices that kill.

I'm in Costa Mesa and I have a van that can take a number of people down there. If people are interested in carpooling, PM me.
Hayte
Jun 18 2009, 11:50 PM
Ok I got a temp card sent to me, Hayte is a "go" for this. I live in Oceanside so its not far. Isn't Costa mesa like...wtfnorth?
And JWs are Jehovah's Witnesses!
Edit: Time and place for me are completely negotiable, usually I get off work on Fridays early and the weekend I do jack -

I know, I was offering to drive those that were north down from my neck of the woods to save gas. I am in so gimme details. I need a drink.
Hayte
Jun 20 2009, 06:15 PM
yeah details people!

Jun 21 2009, 12:30 AM
Details: I'm staying in a big-ass hotel (Grand Hyatt) downtown and I'm w/o vehicle. Unless you count public transportation.
There should be plenty of drinking establishments near by. I can smell the tang of day-old vomit on the sidewalk.
My schedule's pretty flexible for the next five days -- before I go back to Colorado.
Tonight? Tomorrow? Tuesday?
(I'll probably go play ultimate on Pacific beach on Monday night...)
Pick a day, Hayte or Dralian.

I'm iffy on tonight and tomorrow is father's day. After that, I'm free so I vote monday.

Monday it is! I have word from a reliable source that Hayte may also be free on Monday. Who else can we add to this little gathering?
And, better yet, where should we meet up? I'll do a quick search around the area and post some suggestions since, at $6-a-pint, the hotel just ain't cutting it. (Even if "the man" is paying for it.)
P.S. Bike taxis in San Diego are even more aggressive than pan-handlers in NYC when it comes to getting your dollar$.

Last I knew, this was over a year ago, Ainly was by me so if anyone knows how to get in contact with him, that's an option. I'm still offering to drive people in my van the rest of the way if they come to costa mesa. Most of the other californians are like central california so I have doubts. Ask dethea really nicely? Promise san diego zoo with pandas?

This place looks pretty cool:
Blind Lady Ale House
3416 Adams Ave. (Normal Heights)
San Diego
But this place is closer AND has specials on Monday night:
Downtown Johnny Brown's
1220 THIRD AVE.
(3rd and B in the Civic Center Concourse)
Gnaash
Jun 21 2009, 08:51 PM
I'm proposing Downtown Johnny Brown's on Monday either A) around happy-hour (-ish) 5:30 pm or, B) post-dinner, 9:30 or 10:00 pm. Preferences? Dethea? Pandas or no pandas?

Cool. I think happy-hour will work best. I plan on being there about 5:00pm.
Hayte should be along a little bit after, I suppose. Got anybody signed up for the van ride?
Come on, So-Cal ladies. We know you're out there.

It has gotten to the point where this thread must progress to the next level...
Tagg, you should have come to our gathering, and yet you did not. This omission will not be easily forgiven.
Dethea, the Pandas mourned your absence with the combined morosity of a thousand slain soldiers.
But still, Hayte and Dralian - despite the complexities of "one-way" streets - managed the voyage.
(Yes... I've been drinking...)
There were no pictures taken. And so, Gorlasintan, you will NEVER know if I am, in fact, a troll --- or not.
Muwahahahahahaha!

Wait, if your superior intelligence is an illusion, that means you really have average or below-average intelligence. Meaning that it is yet plausible that you are a giant axe-wielding troll.

Gorly, I can confirm that Gnaash is not a troll except for when he is.
It was an enjoyable evening punctuated with reasonably priced drinks, hot wings, and bacon cheeseburgers.
To reference Gnaash's earlier statement, it's rather interesting to go the wrong way on a one way street and see thirty cars coming towards you. I'm good at flooring it in reverse.
The important thing is that we did what was fun for achaeans. We speculated alts, talked OOCly, and even had a rousing discussion of politics. WHAT'RE YOU GONNA DO IRE?!?!?
