Ok, this is a strange question but I thought I'd bring it up here. Is Achaea set in greecian times (IE Achaea, sapience multiple gods, all terms related to greek ideas and would make me think the time frame would be more greecian. HOW ever. Fullplate armor, broad swords, knights. Templars, Angels would make me think it would be a european mid-evil time frame.
Has anyone else asked what state of time the game is actually played in. Or am I the only one who has even bothered to think about it?

It's a mixture of everything and anything. Discordianism is a 20th century postmodern parody of religion, and it's found its place in Achaea, to name just one. And there are paleolithic cavemen in Dun.
Oh, and there are lots of hellenistic terms and ideas in Achaea because Sarapis (hellenistic divinity) liked ancient Greek civilization a lot. I think. Aetolia is another region of Ancient Greece.

I have trouble with your question because of its basis. Achaea is set in Achaean times... Unless you can find a 'time line' in that other world not Achaea that utilized magical spells and gods that walked among mortals sending bolts of lightning streaking across the sky when angered. Bronze Iron Steel Glass all used for weaponry. Sailing three masted ships using sextants. Reading and writing is common knowledge so all had some form of full public education.... the contradictory list goes on forever to destroy any semblance of otherworld 'time placement'
You want to know the exact time line its based off:
Date: Today is the 24th of Scarlatan, 509 years after the fall of the Seleucarian Empire.

All of Epicurus, including his description! I about fell over, since I was studying Hellenistic Philosophy at the time. I've been wanting to debate ataraxia and Oblivion with Epicurus for ages.

Come on man, this isn't in-game

It's simple really, a lot of different areas in Achaea
are based on certain societies/areas/times/religions. I think you knew exactly what he meant.

Zulah's point is that Achaea's technology and culture is all over the place, if you try and compare it to the real world. There's no way to accurately place it in any one time period, or even any five time periods.

No, not one, but you can find the connections to many different things simply because it's not 100% original. Yes, Achaea does compile a ton of different things, but the connections are still there and this guy is looking for them.

Based on Horuce's post he already recognizes the time periods associated with a lot of Achaean things, and he's trying to fit the game into one period.
If he does want a list:
There are a lot of Hellenistic aspects, such as people, places, ideas, divine, etc., too many to list.
Armor ranges from ancient Greece to the 15th century.
Weapons range from the Lower Paleolithic to the 17th century.
Sextants are from the 18th century.
Three-masted ships are from the 17th century. (I don't know about the specific styles used in Achaea)
Classes and guilds/houses are all over the place. 1st century BCE to the 17th century.
Discordianism is a 20th century idea.

I think I recall Clementius having said on Seafarers that they're based on somewhat older ships, but I may be wrong.

There are also things in Achaea that origins from the
Viking age, such as
Yggdrasil. This would be from about the 8th to the 11th century.

It's too late to edit it now, but that should say 15th century, not 17th. I could do some more research later, and see what Achaean ships are actually based on.

Seastriders were originally based on xebecs.

Thank you! That is most definitely the seastrider. Did the cutters have a base inspiration or just a smaller version of the same?

I do not know what windcutters are based on, I was very busy with otherworldly work during their creation.

I always imagined seastriders as square-rigged, but then again, ships in Achaea are complete mystery to me.
How many masts do windcutters have?

One mast on a cutter. I too had been working with a square sailed image in my mind:

I like the Triangle style much better as well as the sleek ship style of the xebecs/chebecs

I think Clementius said that windcutters were more or less sailing yacht-sized Bermuda rigs.

Windcutter, imo.
