I was just recently researching the crime rings that built up during the 360's and I must say I loved the idea. I would be really interested to see another large crime ring rise up, or perhaps a return to power of some of the members of the old ones. Any ideas about why this would be a good/bad idea?

I would be really interested to see another large crime ring rise up,

haha. Help House Naga.

There you go.

This has nothing to do with player theft. The crime rings I'm speaking about were divine run and were very influential at the time. You could often see thugs and the like roaming cities. They kidnapped city loyals and tried to raise casinos among other things as well.

Bandits! need to roam the highways picking on unsuspecting newbies!

No. I was/am/will be a complete newbie to Imperian, but getting raped repeatedly as I wandered into group after group of hostile denizens that pretty much instantly kill low level characters was/is absolutely infuriating. I like that in Achaea you can wander around a lot and, for the most part, not have to worry about instantly dying to something.

I wouldn't want them just randomly killing people like the bandits that we have today. I wanted an actual organized event where they try to take over the cities like they did previously.

Here's a /sarcasm for you Rynn.

Crime rings, divine led that try to take over cities.

OH!!

I Get it, you want the coders (refuse to use term divine) to something your too lazy to try and start.

oh wait that's right you can't start anything in this game like that. I apologize your right, and it probally won't happen.

Not sure, I was referring to the Jaguar crime organization
Des
So...you want them to rerun exactly the same event they ran before...and you think this is a good idea?
Tiax
Unless I missed it (which is quite possible with my low-level of activity), the event in question was left unresolved. I always sort of expected it to start up again.
Boz
I love the idea. Also..is it against the rules to say that Forum_Anon is the only person that I have met on these forums that I have snubbed/found I supremely dislike?

Edit: Yeah, there has got to be no less than 3 grammatical errors there..probably another one in this edit. Going to stop talking so I stop failing!

Do you really have nothing better to do then put down people's ideas? This one isn't even as absurd as many that have been posted before.

Also, things start, end, get destroyed, and created all the time. Didn't you learn from being outnumbered like 6:1 in the last thread you posted on?

Sure, I'll hack the system and make the characters, right the story line while being on at the same time to enjoy it! /sarcasm

Like Tiax said, there's quite a bit of unfinished business left. All we know is that they fled. Most of the Eleusian branch leaders got killed off, but I believe the Shallamese leader, Kelan, got away. It would be interesting to see something with perhaps the thugs in the sewers of the cities.

If I were you, I would just ignore him. From what I've seen, logic bounces off of this guy like bullets off of superman.

As far as I know the leader of the gang claimed to have made loads of money, left for parts unknown and claimed to have other plots brewing. I'd say the event itself was resolved, but with a HUGE hook for the sequel. Just like the Hashani spectre event.

So, asking for a sequel is actually a very sensible idea.

Also, please make a follow-up event!

I just checked and the main leaders of the Shallam, Cyrene, and Ashtan branches all got away. The Eleusian one turned traitor and was slain by the organization. Seems like a good chance for a nice event and roleplay here, continue with it please!

Ha, you could tie it into the actual economic situation currently in Achaea - they sell herbs which they procured from various places/methods, and every year that they turn large profits, they get more powerful and bandits/denizen raids start to happen.
Parleone
I'd like to see this happening!

Good suggestion!

Dude, why don't you -play- as a crime ring? That would be even more awesome.

you could start a clan and do like a "King of thieves" type thing, or mayeb lean alittle bit towards something like a mafia. So much potential here, and it would be so much fun too! You could all share your profits together, have a hide out, do something like that. I'd totally be down for playing as a group of bandits.

See: Pirates of Meropis and The Sable Guild. The former is a ball of raging awesomeness that I want to join at some point if I ever get the money for credits on an alt, the latter was tried and died out. Most thieves don't work well together for RP reasons it seems, the Sable Guild met with HEAVY resistance from people. I'd love to see a group of bandits..even though Boz's RP wouldn't allow him to join but it would be awesome to fight against them/RP with that around.

Can we get some feedback from the admin on the chances of this please?

If we were going to make another big crime ring event, I definitely would not be confirming it here. That being said, yes, this sort of thing is definitely possible, and is actually ongoing in smaller capacities. Undercurrent-types of events are my favourite kinds: I just personally find high politics to be far more fun and interesting than high crime, so I focus on that. Maybe someday a god will come around who is a big Godfather fan, and a massive crime ring event could happen again. No promises, though!

Thanks! I wasn't really interested in if it was it was in planning right now or anything, but more along the lines of it was still viable. Thanks again for answering!

I don't understand do you want denizen criminals? Or do you want to play a criminal? I don't understand the true issue here because you can't really start a crime ring because if you do you will get killed and griefed if you want denizen criminals people will get tired of the raids or people will avoid them because they don't want to be killed.

With the playerbase the way it is. I don't think this actual idea is feasible as both options just have people avoiding it and the three or four people that will actually have fun with it just doesn't seem enough people to warrant the coding if your shooting for the denizens.

Italicized: Not necessarily. Maybe in the beginning, but as you built up power you'd slowly start being left alone, especially if you have your own hideout. Alternatively, you could always start the ring in secret, and build up power that way, and then unleash it on the world all at once.

Underlined: Raid what? The hideout? That's the whole reason for a HIDEOUT. So you can go somewhere that people can't find.

Bolded: I think that this playerbase would have fun with it (look at PoM), and with enough manpower, it may become quote interesting.
Horuce

Sorry, not the hideout. the raids on the towns and stuff. That is what I was reading, sorry if I made that unclear but I thought he was asking for denizen bandit raids on the actual cities in game. The people in the cities would get tired of the bandits raiding the town.
kazu00
Horuce, please read the histories before you start posting on ideas that are based of, well you know, historical things. THanks

But if you have no idea what he's talking about, why would you respond?
Horuce
That reply was a response to Jonathin's reply. I don't even know why I'm defending my right to post. I've made one reply to kazu directly other the one asking for clarifaction which was answered by Jonathin then I clarified my post to Jonathin which prompted kazu to post the smart aleic remark. Its a nice doward spiral But as I said before hand now I'll go out to greater degrees.

The idea is a waste of time with the current player base and will only serve to at best annoy.
