I need some help.

I've played Achaea for the past 4 yearsish or so, but never really got too far. I've had so many different alts, each used to see if I could find a particular city, class, atmosphere, or ideology that would keep my attention. So far, I've concluded that I'm attracted to most of the classes in this game, as I think each is so unique and has so much potential for fun. But it's finding the correct atmosphere that I'm having the most trouble with.

I like conflict. Most people who play this game do, judging by the posts on the forums. I want wars, and confrontation, and something that will allow me to contribute and have purpose in this game when I log in. As a result, I've usually been drawn to Mhaldor with my alts. Mhaldor tends to be filled with people with similar mindsets, but I've found I don't tend to enjoy that city very much because of the other traits most Mhaldorians have. People like Tenebrus, Kaevan, Malifuus, and Tali are a lot of fun, and I tend to love their "Evil" personalities, but others just bother me. It seems Mhaldor's filled with either adolescents who got picked on when they were little and are now displaying their "all powerful" attitudes that they never had in real life, or females who believe a real woman should be cold, patronizing, and ultimately an unpleasant bitch. It is dissapointing that the vast majority of Mhaldorians feel "Evil" needs to take on those qualities, because, like I said, the others who create a persona of their own make Evil and the city so much more fun.

All that being said, I want a change. Shallam tends to fall into a similar situation as Mhaldor, but instead with the opposite stereotype of "Good." I did like the Anointed quite a bit. Are they still around? How is Hashan these days? Is there room for conflict and such there.

I've found I've always been engrossed in combat in the past, and think I'd like to try a political career. So far I'm leaning towards Hashan or Shallam for that. I've never ever tried Cyrene, and it seems like fun, but the lack of them doing anything seems like it'd drive me crazy.

So, long story short. Any suggestions on where I should go for a change of pace, for something that'd hopefully prove to be fun. Any particular groups, or organizations that you guys find particularly good? What did you guys do when you got bored, or lost the fun in this game (Aside from abandoning it all together!)

Thanks,
Vast

If you like combat, but dislike LIVING in Mhaldor..you seem to like the Mhaldorian combatants too..try Ashtan as a home city? There are a few who are allied to Mhaldor I believe. Being allied means you fight beside them but don't have to deal with them if you don't want to. Or fight with Eleusis. Ashtan gives you a decent amount of choice in what you do.

I can offer a small glimpse into Eleusis, for what it's worth. If you're looking for a political career, it's probably the single most difficult city to find one in. Political leadership changes once in a blue moon, with elections being a frequent source of frustration for those hoping to break into the inner circle.

I'm sure Ravien can also attest to the political situation being really tough to get into.

Dude... we have ALOT in common as far as feelings of Achaea and our problems with finding a fitting place in it go.

...this really wasn't ment to help, just to let you know that I'm in the same boat as well.

Mhaldor has such great potential, but everyone there is a complete ASSHAT. I have never encountered an even mildly decent personal-level Rp situation. I've even tried to create them with people, and I get nothing but one line answer's back.

I really love the Occultists side, but nothing ever HAPPENS with Chaos, they are so behind the scenes, they never get involved with anything, and that REALLY bores me.

Eleusis was my first try, and they have their fair share of action, but all the Nature houses are so -ing stupid.
and most of the people I can't stand... not because they are bad RPers.. but because so many of them just sit around, they never contribute to any real, worth-while cause.

Shallam and the Light side weren't actually that bad for me.... a good amount of RP both faction sided and personal. And the Houses we're pretty good too. They usually have ridiculous leaders though, and you always feel like your side is losing, which isn't very fun to play as.

Cyrene is sooo lame and boring, and Hashan has just faded so far into obscurity that they should probably get rid of it completely.

Also this.

Join Ashtan then CTOFF instantly, and KEEP it off, and never talk to anyone in Ashtan and you should be fine ^__^

I dislike it when people feel it is necessary to RP evil as "mean without exception," "asshole," or "male chauvinist." However, not everyone is a "complete ASSHAT," to use Azu's term. My suggestion to you would be to just avoid Mhaldor and try Ashtan.

Rianara
I disagree with the general trend of trying Ashtan. While I do believe you'll get worthwhile combat, I believe RP would be lacking. Ashtan never seems to have a good core RP. If you're looking for -just- combat, then it might be acceptable.

In recent times, I'd say Eleusis might be a good idea. Perhaps try to encourage some conflict to happen, just as with Shala-Khulia. Though with that overwith, is Eleusis raiding anymore?

In defense of Mhaldor, I'd say that most aren't 'ASSHATS', just direct and forceful. Though I must admit, in the past times I've tried alts with Mhaldor, I tend to get complete apathy towards me as a newbie sad.gif

In my mind, having fun Achaea is completely up to you. If you want to start something cool, then get respected in whatever organization and try it. Achaea is only as fun as you make it.

This is and what Rianara said are much better then what I said.

I probably shouldn't have worded it in such a manner, but whatever happy.gif

laugh.gif Right, nothing.

My suggestion is to start of rogue instead of assigning yourself to a city and mindframe if you aren't what you want to follow and allow your character to develop naturally. if you feel it -really- necessary to join a city later on hopefully you have dipped into a variety of conflict and found one your character can really apply itself to.

Least we level on that point.

I'd happily backhand anyone with that attitude, being evil doesn't mean being a bitch.
