OK...aside from seeing people Very angry here..that anon guy. Was wondering how easy is it to get back into the game. I'm thinking about coming back in because well I got everything i wanted to on WoW and Achaea conversations>WoW l33t sp3@k. So do you guys think it would be ok to step back in or is it hard to step back in.
Now I would be resuming my character of Horuce as Desert Child with some sea worship with particular respect/loyalty to his desert divines but trying to figure out if should even bother.
Because I actually have a really cool idea of being both Desert and Ocean and I really want to try it out.
Well what do you guys think?

I think that after you master the all-important art of punctuation (just kidding ... kind of), Achaea will not be to too hard to step back into. Keep in mind that when you come back, everything your character ever owned will likely be decayed, leadership will have changed, and people might say, "Horuce? Who's Horuce?" This all depends on how long you've been gone, of course, but as long as you keep in mind that the game isn't going to be the exact same as when you left it (including new skills you'll need to learn or learn how to counter (heartseed ftw), new people, and new city rivalries/alliances), it might take a moment to get back into the groove of things, but it can be done.

I don't think anyone can answer you on this. It really depends on you, the people you roleplay with, and many other factors. Just log in, start your roleplay and find out. There really isn't a definitive answer as to whether you can step back in with no problems or not.
All you gotta do is try.

I just came back after around two years of dormancy. Completely new world. Lost friends. Found new ones. It's difficult but not impossible.
To be honest, I think it's a little easier to just make a new character then start up an older one because people aren't as forgiving when you reach 184 years of age, though. Then again, I don't really follow my own advice, do I?

You're right.

I don't know what city he's in (if he said something about it, I totally missed it). I've always been Shallamese/Church/EA. Leadership sometimes changes very often there.

Ashtani, and a Warlock. Two orgs that don't change leaderships very often heh. I think both still have the same leaders as when he left at this point.

But back on topic, try to come back, see if you have fun. I was dormant for the better part of a year and came back and am now honestly having more fun than I used to. Achaea is only as fun as you make it. If you come back, get your RP going and have fun, awesome. If you come back, have a bad time, just quit again. You've lost nothing but a few hours of your time that probably would have been spent playing another game anyway.

The longer you've actually played Achaea, the easier you'll find it to come back from dormancy... if that makes sense.

I have been a player who has been dormant on two occasions.
The first dormancy wasn't that long and so almost the same players were around, although not in the same positions. I obviously faced the sudden decay of all my posessions and had to rat a bit to get me over it.
The second comeback though, was just a month and a half ago and it was much harder. The leadership positions were occupied by people who I had never met and who were younger than me and talked of the leaders of my time something like a sort of ancient figures of history.
Since you haven't been around something that probably will make it harder is combat. Although you won't have many enemies, the new skills, the new strategies and possibly classes will kill you.
Plus, the divine changes also surprised me. Bu then again, it will just take a bit to get some money back and rebuy yourself some necessities and get a hang of NoT being NoNT!

Word.
Though, it's been rather fun to RP the character that goes 'When I was your age...' and 'In my times...'.

Haha, Selerin just likes to go off on long stories about when Scarlatti did this, who did that, the history of this guild, of that house. Politics between cities... Anything and everything somehow reminds of her something that happened when she was younger. I think she's starting to piss off the people around her
What's funny is that she does this without figuring out if things have changed in the world or not. Some of the things she says are probably completely obsolete.

When I came back, I embraced the RP of being old and disoriented. I've been doing the 'In my days..." RP since Rianara turned 100 though. I really enjoy portraying an older character and actually acting as such. The disorientation was essential for me since I really did feel like I'd missed so much that I didn't really know what was going on anymore. It serves an OOC purpose and provides loads of IC fun

For some reason, it bugs me when people refer to their characters actions as "Revolg does this because he is such and such." and "His personality is blah blah blah, so he does this". When your having a conversation with someone in game, 75% of people don't stop and think, hmmmm; what would my character think about this? You do this without thinking, so I think it's odd to imply some sort of thought process goes into it. Just like thinking up some fantastic background for your character and trying to RP how your character reacts because of that, I think it's a bit much. While most people would generally respond differently on say a Mhaldorian character from a Shallamese character, there are still elements of your personality that shine through no matter what, and make the basis of that character.

That's narrow and not very accurate thinking. While that might hold true for Aerek, my main character, it is not at all true for my alt. His personality is one that is very much pre-constructed, and very much not me. Gnaash mentioned in another thread a while back that in order for him to speak 'troll', he had to think troll. Much the same for a good Achaean character. Playing my Infernal is like stepping into a different frame of mind.
It'd be silly to say that most Achaeans do this, but I'd bet that most of the interesting ones do.

At first there are moments when I had to stop and go 'what would Selerin do in this case' much as I would for any character I'm roleplaying at the moment....however, after some time of playing her it's easy to switch into her mindset and simply respond without taking the time to think about it. Honestly, Selerin and I only share a few minor traits as far as personality goes.
