I've been wondering how do you all RP with ents if you have...do you just use em..per skill or lace it into RP? and that includes pets..

I used to have a mule that I'd have follow me around and I'd ride that I considered a loyal companion(when I really didn't know anyone else after coming back from dormancy... so he was my only 'friend'). It was purely an RP thing, though initially it was because I wanted to use gallop at the cheapest cost(I already had gallop, but no mounts). It was all great until he was killed.

Iocun
Jan 30 2009, 02:02 PM
Iocun often talks to his camel, even when they're somewhere alone - which is kind of silly since nobody can hear it. Not extended conversations though, just some remarks now and then, since the camel doesn't talk back anyways. She just does some emotes now and then.
For some time I actually tried to RP the camel with more personality, such as refusing to fly or to go underwater, but that proved too troublesome after a while, as Iocun goes to the clouds all the time. So now she accepts it, even though still somewhat grudgingly.
I also have some nice custom emotes for her lying down to be mounted and standing up, but again, I got too lazy for that after a while since it takes so much longer than just vaulting.
In any case however, the camel is one Iocun's most important "features". He avoids walking whenever possible and is almost always mounted, even when walking would some times be more practical.

Most of Rinzai's are kept safe inside of his house. It honestly boils down to his protective nature by limiting freedoms to ensure safety.
With Rinzai though most of his, personal pets and not just the ones that roam his estate are named very specifically paying homage to lost friends, to try to propagate their existence.

Tohran
Jan 31 2009, 12:24 PM
My dark phoenix, has an RP all her own. Hates Cyrene mostly, (backstory: Tohran found her with Cyrenian arrows in her side, he nursed her back to health) and wants to see it razed to the ground not only because of what they did to her, but when they cut down the forest and displaced Propasia, they slaughtered the other dark phoenixes, leaving her to be the only one. Also doesn't like Mhaldorians (hence the custom emote for when they come in the room, I'm working on one for Cyrenians too) She talks every so often, paticularly when Tohran is around women, she's curious as to why he has few, if any, male friends. She's rather fond of Daine and Ravien. She HATES it when someone calls her a bird, gets indignant and very rude, tends to rant verbally too.

Tahquil is very possessive about her Baalzadeen. Not in the -cling to it so and cry when it leaves- way, but she gets irritated when people touch. The touchee usually gets away with a warning and a snarl, unless you were the novice that snogged it while we were standing at Stygian. It suicided shortly afterwards.

So! I have a question for you all.
Guardian Angels used to be emotable, then they weren't, then they were...now they aren't.
What's the deal with other ents? Can you emote to, say, Chaos entities? Grove creatures?
I think not being able to emote with your loyals kind of raises a huge barrier to your being able to roleplay with them. So few people actually pay any notice to their angel, thinking that its just a skill, when in fact there's a great big shining broad hanging around you!

I noticed the emote-thing a while back, and I'm kinda curious why. Does it have to do with the fact that they're not there (as per IH) or something else? Is it an unfortunate consequence of some other change, or a deliberate change?
I'm at a point now where I just custom emote things if I want to interact with my angel physically anyway, though most of the time she's just whispering.

Jan 31 2009, 04:39 PM
I'm pretty sure emotes could be directed at angels the entire time I was a priest. I can't think of a reason they would have deliberately changed it, but it's a bit disappointing if it's not possible anymore.
It was also fun having your angel attack people that way, though I guess it's possible that's the reason it was changed.

True, but that doesn't explain why they go back and forth between working with emotes and not working.

Ya I did notice that, but I'd rather them fixed completely than just bouncing back and forth between allowing emotes.

I was told, perhaps incorrectly, that angels were relieved of their emote-able-ness (NEW WORD!) because if another player did a number of 'negative emotes' to them (ie. backhand, slap etc) the angel would attack them and the person they attacked would then gain cause on the angels owner even if they weren't responsible. To my mind, stopping angels from being able to be emoted to is probably the worst example of problem solving ever.
I personally would like to see them in IH (as you should be able to see all ents) and have them fully emote-able. It used to be that you could perform some but not all emotes...if you cuddled them they used to smile at your or something. I just think it's an invaluable roleplay aspect that we don't have and should have.
I IDEA'd this a while back but didn't get any reply. I might start a thread on it if no one else knows of any similar threads?

Cilla is the tiny little wolf cub that followed me home from the Tundra after I killed her pack.
I don't really RP with her much, because (RP-wise) she's silent, and I only got her the sentience so I could have her emote. She's just the cuddly little cute thing that is the complete opposite of me that howls every once in a while.
Then I have a big evil mandrill that I thought would look cool.

Also going to need to work on my prayer ritual to bring it to Prime, though. Anyway, his name is Elaphron (ancient Grook for 'shining, lit up' or, literally, 'I have shone.').

Quoren
Feb 2 2009, 01:10 AM
I roleplay with my angel (using "em 's guardian angel <blah) to the point that she has an embryonic personality of her own. She's quite protective, and not terribly trusting of anyone except for people who are very close to Quoren. She makes decisions based on what she thinks is best for her charge, that is, me, and therefore disagrees with Quoren quite a lot, since he's too trusting by far. She also dislikes Occultists, especially Babelites, to the point that she will fix them with a cold stare any time one enters the room. Gloirin is her number one hated person, and she wants to rip out his soul constantly.

I had a koala (Bibi) that would follow me around while kicking and cursing me for having its soul bound inside of the koala (and to me). It would call me a wench and then turn around and be sweet to someone else, trying to get them against me. I tend to treat my falcon as a noble and trusted ally...His name is Oraye
I always thank him when he returns to me. I feed him the odd treat.
When someone is really awful, I whisper to him how I'd like him to tear them up with his beak.
I try to take him out for a good fly in the mountains at least once a year.
I also have chosen to have falcon's wings for my Atavian's character... this was something I chose before, but I like the congruity. It strengthens the affinity I feel for Oraye.
If I could have any animal, I would like an Echidna...Serious cute-factor, but with seriously mean spikes. Good for killing ants, scorpions and the like too. Of Course, I doubt they have such weird creatures in Achaea...I mean, seriously. A mammal that lays eggs?
