This kast year was my first Christmas in FL and I admit I hated the fact it was hot (I think it was in the upper 80's for Christmas, can't recall now), it did not seem right.
I hear Fairbanks is lovely, and getting a lot of cultural buildup there (some say moreso than Anchorage).

Pssh, only build-up in Fairbanks is the snow! And yes, you live in a colder area than I do. Curses. I'm sitting here wrapped up in blankets and shivering as I type. D: You'd think, being half-Eskimo, I'd have some kind of naturally cold resistant genes or whatever. XD But noooooooo.

4 people froze to death over here in the last day or so

(apparently it got down to -30 degrees in some places...which might be mild for Alaska...but IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE THAT BLEEPING COLD
HERE...we were just thinking spring was coming, too...)
So yeah, I'd rather visit Ainia in FL

Edit: Just to clarify, I'm talking Celsius of course. ...funnily enough, in this case the F value is pretty close though...-30 * 1.8 = - 54, -54 + 32 = -22.

I grew up in Alaska. I lived in: Homer, Salcha, Cordova, Fairbanks, Moosecreek. I worked at the Santa Claus House in none other than North Pole, Alaska. Is it still owned by Mike what's-his-name? He was a senator back in the day.
I have a brother and an ex-step-father-in-law who still live in the area of Fairbanks.
I don't miss it one iota and I'm probably never going to return to visit.
