Knight Two-Handed Specialisation

So, when you specialize in two-handed in Weaponmastery, you automatically get Bastard Sword. Is there a way to change that to Warhammer without spending 100 lessons on it?

''Mhaldorians don't say 'dude'.''
''Oh.... I still want that horse.''

other than for the speed advantage in some VERY specific scenarios I've found bastard swords to be the preferable weapon due to their damage, the extra affliction pressure, and the minimal loss of speed (may be biased with my level 3 here)

    What's that mean?

@Hhaos Are you a Runie, btw?

I have a level three artefact bastard sword and yes I've been a runewarden for about three years irl
  • Wow, level 3..... Wonder how long it'll take me to get that xD

Do you have any knowledge of using Dual Cutting? I was dual cutting during my last few days as a runewarden, and it seemed I was missing 50% of my hits, and I barely only got out in time using FLY. Except in Manara, where I had to use WALK TO MANARA to get to the beginning xD

Is there a way that people increase their accuracy and possibly damage output other than str. stats?

If you're missing hits, it's usually because you lack the spec...were you using scimitars or battleaxes? If axes, you needed to learn the spec separately.

Accuracy is increased by having the specialisation and transing weaponmastery, I think. If you trans both weaponmastery and weaponry it should increase damage a small bit.

It's worth saying that under the old system, it wasn't really recommended to DSL with anything but shortswords until at least Expert/Virtuoso in Chivalry. Under the new system, 2H and S&B attacks seem much more accurate for low-level players; I can usually fix them up with their actual weapons immediately and they do well, where DSL's accuracy feels like it's still calculated under the old system.

If you're under Expert Weaponmastery, I'd expect to miss often with scimitars and battleaxes, just because that's how that used to work, and DSL Knight is pretty much unchanged from how it was. Can you still DSL with shortswords? If not, might have to ride the shortsword/tower shield train until your Weaponmastery is high enough to warrant scimitars.

  • Yea, no more DSLing with shortswords, BUT you can hit pretty much every time with training scimitars/battleaxes/flails/morningstars. They just do a little less damage, which you can possibly see if you pay attention to how many times you had to hit a denizen to kill it.

I did use training scimitars during my time as a runie, and it went really well for a good long while, before I wanted to hop onto Jester.

  • Seems to me when they created the 2h specialization they had no intention of making warhammer a viable combat option. no finishing move such as disembowl and no proned hindering. Unless I am missing something.
Okk tells you, "You 'woof'ed on a house channel in a conversation with the Lord Bard."

Most of the time, you're correct. Bastard sword is necessary for end-game execution, and the venom from the sword is usually more desirable than the hammer's slightly faster speed, but the fact that a forged hammer breaks most of the world in 3 hits shouldn't be ignored. You can be extremely annoying in groups with that, and pretty annoying in 1v1 against someone who needs both arms to attack you, so I see fringe cases where it's advantageous to have both.

Hammer is for jumping, period in my mind, three precision to legs while hunting, one sped, devastate/entangle, impale dsb x 2 will kill 90% of Achaea if they're hunting or in a group setting

Edit: Notable here that I swap between the two at will.

Isn't that like, 100 lessons each time?

no no no, 2h can use both bastards and hammers gods no, I couldn't afford the sword if it cost that much to swap as much as I do!
  • Ooooh, thought you meant between specializations. But that would be cool to see, do you swap in the middle of battle?

  • Just if you use SVO be sure to have auto re-wield set to off. It is kinda buggy atm... Nothing like switching to bastard sword and being stuck in a loops of switching weapons at speeds only The Flash should be able to do.
