Humgii racing

Just a thread for people to talk about their impression of humgii racing. FWIW, it's really another form of a credit bonus, but with large variance in your reward depending on how risky your bets are. If you bet on long-shot humgiis, you may never win, but if you do, you'll win a lot of credits. If you bet on the faster humgii, you'll win less, but win much more often.

    ANNOUNCE NEWS #3957 (10/11/2013 at 00:02)
     From : Tecton, the Terraformer

    Subject: Humgii racing
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Humgiis - I dare you to try and find something about them that's not loveable. We in the Garden feel the same way, so over the past millennia, we've been training them to race at furious speeds around tracks for our enjoyment (and to occasionally gamble some of that essence offered by players.) Being the benevolent pantheon that we are, we are allowing adventurers to participate in this spectacle for a very limited time! For the rest of the month of October, head to New Thera and try your hand at humgii racing (the track is SOUTH from the entrance to the Ace of Spades casino. In order to gamble, you'll need special tickets, which are freely given for every 10 credits purchased on Achaea.com - you'll place these on a particular racer, and be paid out in credits! Will you take a safe bet on the favourite, or go for an outside chance to try and win big? HELP RACING has all of the specific details, so head over there for all of the information!

Thanks for posting that @Sarapis, the website still isn't accessible and keeps timing out so I can't read news posts yet.
(D.M.A.): Cooper says, "Kyrra is either the most innocent person in the world, or the girl who uses the most innuendo seemingly unintentionally but really on purpose."

  • It's not April.... :-?
  • It's April somewhere in the universe... probably.

Orgs should be able to enter their org-owned humgiis into the races and bet on them. That would be really fun and more relevant (though probably impractical as far as stats and chances of winning go). Imagine Zoot racing Giles but surprisingly coming in fourth to Gred and Chomps. Then Zoot eats Chomps before Cyrene demands a million gold fine from Ravien for his replacement. The drama!
This. And tie it to org-only quests that allow you to pimp your humgii (stats-wise... no hydrauloics or obnoxious sound systems). AND Dr K should now be giving 'hot tips' along with each Gleam sale.

    I'll shut up.
Tvistor: If that was a troll, it was masterful.
I take my hat off to you.

I would love if there were city projects like described above

But Zoot, Chomps, and Gred are already part of the system...

And if they break a leg and need to be shot, there will need to be humgii ready and trained to take their places in the gates....

  • @Anaidiana Humgii are remarkably resilient animals!
  • JozlynJozlyn out of here.
@Anaidiana I suggest that the injured humgii is fed to the other humgiis. Why waste protein?
     yes, sir.
  • Oh hell no, I learned my lesson from Chronotrigger. Stick to beating up the robot.
  • I wanted to be a humgii jockey. Thardor dashed my hopes into tiny itty bitty smithereens. I demand he be fired!

He said I was too enormous to be a rider
    :((

@Lala Tabor was only telling the truth.
     yes, sir.

Targ needs a specially named humgii. Right now we just have the one that's still sopping wet and looking kind've desperate.

    A humgii-recursion, you say.

  • @Sarapis @Tecton I like this promo. Please keep it or do it frequently.
  • Quick question: do you have to be logged in to redeem your bet?
  • edited October 2013
Currently, the average ticket (you get one for every 10 credits) is returning approximately 2.5 credits to users on average, just fyi. (With huge variations. Many people win nothing. Some people win 100+ credits on a single ticket. Gotta have an eye for the humgii! (Protip: Check their haunches.)
